A promising update regarding Marvel Studios Fantastic Four reboot was revealed when director Matt Shakman sat down with one major trade amid the SAG-AFTRA strike still transpiring, shedding light on core details on what fans can expect and the approach Marvel is taking with the project.
The Fantastic Four Is Ready For Showtime
Shakman also confirmed if a successful agreement between the SAG-AFTRA strike should be approved, cameras would start shooting Fantastic Four in the historic Pinewood studios in London next year. This solidifies the fact that Marvel Studios and everyone attached to the film is looking to fast-track this latest reboot as soon as possible.

He also revealed that the cast of Marvel’s First Family has been filled but confirmed that the actors won’t be revealed until the SAG-AFTRA strike is officially resolved.
“Hard to say. Like I said, we’re in the middle of a SAG strike, and I’m keeping my fingers crossed that they get a great deal really soon and we can go back. Then, once that’s resolved, there’ll be a plan at that point, but I can’t say too much. There will be an announcement at some point! I know the internet is very excited to find out, and I’m excited to share it. I just can’t do it yet.”

Now, it’s no secret that Marvel Studios usually nails the casting, and it’s due to the craft and precision of Sarah Halley Finn and her team. The tone of Shakman’s comments does point to the conclusion of Marvel Studios and Kevin Feige, having found the perfect people to drop into the MCU sandbox and the silver screen after years of turmoil decaying away under the guidance and mishandling of 20th-century Fox.

As of now, there have been rumblings. Still, nothing has been confirmed, but rumors do speculate that John Krasinski could possibly be attached to the project and reprise his role as he did star in a cameo role as a variant of the character during the events of Doctor Strange: Multiverse Of Madness(2021). Of course, throwing some water to put out this fire was Kranski confirmed and stated to trade last year, “It’s very unlikely to happen again”.
Other names attached to the project include Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm, aka The Invisible Woman, but no truth has been attached to that. In addition to the value of these Marvel heroes being revealed, Shakman was also asked about the identity and approach to helming this project.
“It’s different in so many ways. I wish I could be specific. I wish I could say more. But we are doing things very differently from a story standpoint, from an approach to the filmmaking standpoint, that really fits the material. I wish I could say more. I would love to, but I can’t. But I think it’s going to be unlike anything you’ve seen before and certainly unlike anything at Marvel that you’ve seen before.”

Shakman is the right man for the job, and he does experience dabbling in the cosmic side of the MCU, with being the director for Wandavision. The series was a prime example of his ability to adapt the lore and creative allure of the comic source material while invoking a touch of human emotion.

It will be interesting to see how Marvel Studios will introduce these characters when they debut. Still, we can only speculate and believe that the MCU can regain its footing amid a few constructive and creative decisions. The chapter of the MCU is Loki Season 2 which is currently streaming on Disney+, and The Marvels is set to hit theaters on Nov. 10, as tickets are now officially on sale.
