WWE’s third brand, NXT, may be making a move to Tuesday nights.
According to Mat Men Pro Wrestling Podcast and their “very reliable source”, WWE could be shifting NXT from Wednesday to Tuesday nights as early as Apr. 13. Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer confirmed that there is talk about the possible move up in WWE headquarters.
A Possible Ceasefire In The Wednesday Night Wars
NXT has been on USA Network on Wednesday nights since October of 2019. Previously NXT was only aired on the WWE Network. AEW aired their Dynamite weekly show the same night. Thus the two promotions began the Wednesday night wars. AEW tended to win the faceoff and they should. They have some of the best wrestlers in the world and many ex-WWE wrestlers and NXT has many wrestlers who are just getting their start.

The rumors about the reason for the move are already circling the internet. Some believe the move is due to WWE losing the ratings battle with AEW. They have to move to a new night in order to try to boost their ratings.
Move Over Wrestling, Hockey Needs The Space
NXT moving to a new night is most likely a time slot issue, rather than an utter defeat to AEW. NBC’s NBCSN is being shut down and this was where many live sports were aired by NBC. The plan by NBC is to move many of those live sports to USA Network from now on. Wednesday nights is prime hockey night as Wednesday Night Hockey has become a staple for NBCSN. NBC didn’t want to miss out of the hockey viewership, thus NXT is moving to a new night.

People will watch wrestling any night of the week so WWE won’t lose any viewers and will in fact gain viewers because they won’t split the audience with AEW anymore.
New Night But Same World Class Wrestling
This isn’t the first time WWE has moved the night of one of their wrestling programs. SmackDown has been on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday nights for many different reasons. However, SmackDown is still going strong. A move to a new night doesn’t mean anything really as far as ratings go. Tuesday could be a much better night for NXT or it could be a much worse night. Only time will tell if NXT does indeed move and what effect it has on their ratings. Which network and what time seems to have a much bigger impact on ratings than which night.
What do you think about NXT moving nights? Do you think Tuesday will be a better night for them? Is there a night or time slot you think NXT would do extremely well in? Do you think the move is because of NXT losing the Wednesday Night Wars? Let us know what you think of the possible move in the comments.
