Based on a long-dead ABC series, Fantasy Island has been given a horror-twinged twist by Blumhouse Productions just in time for Valentine’s Day. Instead of being a mysterious yet kindly imparter of life lessons, for example, Mr. Roarke (Michael Peña) is now a malevolent man hoping to make his guests regret their wishes.
Truth or Dare‘s Jeff Wadlow directs the feature film, which in addition to Peña also stars Blumhouse favorite Lucy Hale, Michael Rooker in a still-unknown role, Maggie Q, and Meghan Markle look-alike Parisa Fitz-Henley. Check out the latest trailer below:

Fantasy Island Exacts A Terrifying Price
As the trailer makes clear, the winners of the supposed reward vacation each come with a particularly powerful desire in mind. Melanie (Lucy Hale) has a vendetta against her high school bully, while Elena (Maggie Q) recently lost her daughter. Thanks to Mr. Roarke’s enchanting island, it seems those desires will manifest themselves into reality… But soon things take a very dark turn.
The official synopsis reads as follows:
In Blumhouse’s Fantasy Island, the enigmatic Mr. Roarke makes the secret dreams of his lucky guests come true at a luxurious but remote tropical resort. But when the fantasies turn into nightmares, the guests have to solve the island’s mystery in order to escape with their lives.
Whether or not a horror remake of an 80s ABC drama is the way you envisioned spending a romantic date this February 14th, there’s no denying Blumhouse has a great track record. Of course, not every film can be Get Out, but there’s enough meat in the trailer to at least give the movie a chance.
