The next Super Sentai series has had its name revealed as the copyright was submitted. The 46th season is slowly getting closer to its debut and fans are already hunting down for any information regarding the next installment. The first item Sentai fans always find is the official name, which allows a sneak preview into what type of Ranger team it will be.
As the 45th series, Kikai Sentai Zenkaiger gets closer and closer to the finale episode, fans are constantly on the lookout for anything relating to the next series. This has been a tradition for fans of Super Sentai as it’s generally in October/November when clues begin to appear. New Super Sentai seasons start around the beginning of February and as one show begins to reach the end, new images of the Rangers, Weapons, and Robo/Zords begin to surface.
The 46th season has been revealed to be called Avataro Sentai Donbrothers. This new series already sparks curiosity as the name differs from the conventional word use. Original first sighting found the name to begin with Bakutaro Sentai but had no following name for the team. The name roughly translates as ‘Raging Boy Sentai’.
Donbrothers Becomes the 46th Super Sentai Season
The brother word use may suggest this Super Sentai season will have a family/brotherhood-focused theme, which may make it similar to Magiranger. This magic Sentai featured a whole team being a family that is related to each other. However, after seeing the rumors of the Ranger of the season, the specific naming used may suggest a new concept that has previously been seen in other Tokusatsu shows.

As for the possible releases regarding the Rangers in the team, the Red and Yellow Rangers of the series are rumored to be human Rangers, calling the Red Ranger “MomoBrother” and the Yellow Ranger “OniSister”. After looking into these keywords, the likely theme of the show will be Japanese Folklore. This is only a possibility as it has yet to be confirmed, but if true then this Sentai show will be much like a Brothers Grimm type Ranger series.
The main influence on the Sentai will be the fairytale called Momotaro, which is a popular folktale that features a hero that was born from a peach. Oni are also creatures depicted in this folklore mythology, which could be a reference to the foe in the fairytale and the Demon chief that was captured.
Both Momotaro and Oni have been featured in the Kamen Rider series before, with Momotaros in Kamen Rider Den-O and Oni being used in Kamen Rider Hibiki.
The new series also includes three CGI Characters that will be Rangers based on a Pheasant, a Monkey, and a Dog. These animals are included in the folktale as allies that help Momotaro defeat the evil band of Oni.
This use of CGI could also include the use of motion capture since Zenkaiger’s Zenryoku Zenkai Oh debuted the first use of the method. Those well versed in the folktale may also be able to discover what kind of weapons, Zords, and other elements could be used for this Ranger series.
It is also rumored that this series will be a sequel, or at least linked, to Kikai Sentai Zenkaiger. This is due to the 45th season having new items that are linked to Zenkai Red and Juran being released, alongside another listing. This may just be a temporary name for the listing or even just be them included for the transfer to the new series as some Sentai shows do have temporary crossovers in the beginning.
This is going to be an interesting Super Sentai series to watch unfold. It will be curious to see if the Momotaro-based Sentai will include other Mythological characters from other folklores. It will also be interesting to find out if how much of Zenkaiger will be dragged into Donbrothers.
