With Spider-Man: No Way Home’s release a few short weeks away, the hype for the third installment of Marvel Studios’ adaptation of the infamous Wall-Crawler is gaining momentum with a new Tobey Maguire era tease.
Ever since Alfred Molina’s Doc Ock, William Dafoe’s Green Goblin, and Thomas Haden Church’s Sandman were revealed to be in the film, fans were wondering if Tobey Maguire’s version of Spider-Man will also make a return. Mainly because the three aforementioned villains were all part of Maguire’s Spider-Man film universe that was directed by Sam Raimi.
We all know that No Way Home will be a multiverse film, potentially setting up a live-action Spider-Verse. The movie will mark the return of Rhys Ifan’s Lizard and Jamie Foxx’s Electro, all of whom were a part of Andrew Garfield’s Amazing Spider-Man film universe that was directed by Marc Webb. So it won’t be a shock if the two former Spider-Men make their grand return in No Way Home. So far Marvel Studios and Sony has kept their involvement secret, even to the point of not marketing them or including them in the trailer.
Spider-Man: No Way Home Tobey Maguire Merchandise Leak
Now a fan found a potentially leaked image of Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man in a brand new merchandise promoting Spider-Man: No Way Home.
Marvel has recently released a new holiday themed bark box for Spider-Man: No Way Home, and there is a small telling detail. In the top right of the main image, you can spot Tobey Maguire’s iconic Spider-Man costume peaking out. The leaked image is in black and white, however fans of Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man trilogy can instantly recognize Maguire’s Spider-Man. That’s definitely the design that Tobey Maguire’s Peter Parker crafted in his own bedroom.
While that looks to be the iconic suit from the first three big-screen Spider-Man films, there is still always a chance that it could be a manufacturing error. The person in charge of creating marketing materials for the merchandise could have just commissioned an image of Maguire’s Spider-Man to fill in the space. All we can to do is hope to see if Maguire’s Spider-Man will indeed make his grand return when No Way Home releases in a few weeks.
