The Orville: New Horizons trailer sees the return of the sci-fi adventure comedy-drama series as it is now coming from its new horizon, Hulu.
Seth MacFarlane’s epic space adventure series is finally back, coming exclusively as a Hulu original series. The Orville premiered in 2017 and ran for two seasons on FOX. After its season two finale in April 2019, the hour-long comedy has landed its spaceship on Hulu, the shift is due to the Disney acquisition of 20th Century Fox in 2019. Now it is due for a third season with a new title, The Orville: New Horizons.
Set 400 years in the future, The Orville: New Horizons finds the crew of the U.S.S. Orville continuing their mission of exploration, as they navigate both the mysteries of the universe and the complexities of their own interpersonal relationships.

The creator and star of the series, Seth MacFarlane is back at the helm as Captain Ed Mercer alongside Adrianne Palicki as Commander Kelly Grayson and Scott Grimes as Lt. Gordon Malloy. The other returning ensemble cast includes Penny Johnson Jerald, Peter Macon, J Lee, Mark Jackson, Chad L. Coleman, Jessica Szohr, and Anne Winters.

The trailer offers a fuller look at the exciting new season and what to expect from it after shifting to Hulu. As far as the trailers reveal, the new season seems to deliver what defined the series, likable characters, messages, action, and its unique style of comedy.

In the trailer, we can see the crew is back together with a few new faces here and there. It starts with a captain log by MacFarlane’s Mercer. The space travelers are on their mission of exploration but are clearly, at the same time, fighting the war against the Kaylon and balancing new truces with old enemies. And the trailer ends with the line, “definitely worth the wait”.
It’s been a rough trip for The Orville to get to Hulu, where it will be streaming. The show had faced many hurdles during production, traded hands in the Fox sale, moved from Fox to Hulu, production was delayed due to the global pandemic, was delayed again, and has had continued rumors of not continuing for much longer.
Regardless, it looks like Hulu/ Disney spent a large sum of money and production value on the 11-episode third season. MacFarlane and John Cassar are the only directors for this season. The studio has no current plans for a fourth season.
The Orville: New Horizons is produced by 20th Television and Fuzzy Door. The series was created and written by Seth MacFarlane. MacFarlane, Brannon Braga, David A. Goodman, Jon Cassar, Jason Clark, and Howard Griffith serve as executive producers.
