There is yet another delay in the world of entertainment and LucasFilm is the latest production company to make release date changes.
In a press release made by Disney+, it was mentioned about the shows which are coming to the streaming service in the near future. The two new Star Wars series next up on the Disney production line are Obi-Wan Kenobi and the Rogue One spin-off Cassian Andor. Both these LucasFilm shows are still in the pre-production phase and only a few details are known about these shows. (Largely in part to The Illuminerdi’s exclusive reporting on the series.)
LucasFilm’s New Release Schedule for Obi-Wan and Cassian Andor
The new report suggests that the untitled Obi-Wan Kenobi series is set for a 2022 release and Cassian Andor series is still on track for 2021 release.
The press release originally issued by the Disney’s French division, via MCU Cosmic, lists all the possible releases years for everything coming to Disney Plus. But it is important to keep in mind that these decisions might have been made before considering the ongoing delays and production halts of multiple projects at Disney. The global pandemic particularly affected the films and shows set in the MCU and recently Marvel provided a new lineup of release dates for their movies.
LucasFilm had been quiet about the release dates of their shows, but with season 2 of The Mandalorian already finished shooting, it’s looks likely to meet its original release date. During a February conference call with shareholders, Disney revealed that second season will premiere in October of 2020.

We haven’t heard much publicly about what to expect from the Cassian Andor show, apart from the return of Rogue One co-writer Tony Gilroy and Stephen Schiff (The Americans) serving as the showrunner. The show follows the adventures centered around rebellion captain Andor during the formative years of the rebellion, before the events of Rogue One. Diego Luna is set to return as the titular hero, along with Alan Tudyk as K-2SO.
In a recent interview with ET, Luna explains:
“Yes, we are doing it. We are doing it this year, It’s happening, and I’m getting ready for it… It is really cool to tell a story where you already know the ending.”
