The Ultimate Playlist of Noise is Hulu’s original musical drama directed by Bennett Lasseter in his feature directorial debut and written by Mitchell Winkie. It stars Keean Johnson (Alita: Battle Angel, Euphoria) and Madeline Brewer (The Handmaid’s Tale, Cam) in the lead roles.
Oliver Cooper (Mindhunter), Ariela Barer (The Runaways), Ian Gomez (My Big Fat Greek Wedding), Emily Skeggs (Mile 22), and Carol Mansell (Better Call Saul) also star.
The story follows Marcus (Johnson), an audio obsessed high school senior who learns he must undergo brain surgery that will render him deaf. He decides to go on a road trip to seize control of his fate. With the help of a struggling musician named Wendy (Brewer), by recording the Ultimate Playlist of Noise — a bucket list of all his favorite sounds before facing reality and his future without hearing.

The Marksman
The Marksman is an action thriller film directed by Robert Lorenz (Trouble with the Curve) and starring Liam Neeson (Schindler’s List, Taken) in the lead. Katheryn Winnick (Vikings, The Dark Tower), Teresa Ruiz (Narcos: Mexico), Juan Pablo Raba (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.), Jacob Perez, Dylan Kenin (Sicario), Lelia Symington, Luce Rains (Hostiles) also star.
The story follows Jim Hanson (Neeson), a rancher and former Marine living in an Arizona border town who must help a young boy escape a Mexican drug cartel. The film is scheduled to be theatrically released in the US.

Our Friend is a comedy-drama film directed by Gabriela Cowperthwaite (Megan Leavey), from a screenplay by Brad Ingelsby. Adapted from an Esquire article written by Matthew Teague about his wife’s battle with cancer and the friend who moved in to help the family manage, this comedic-drama looks like a funny tearjerker.
It stars Casey Affleck (Manchester by the Sea), Dakota Johnson (The Peanut Butter Falcon, Suspiria, Fifty Shades of Grey), Jason Segel (How I Met Your Mother), Ahna O’Reilly (The Help), Marielle Scott (You), Cherry Jones (Defending Jacob), Violet McGraw (The Haunting of Hill House), Isabella Kai (True Blood), and Gwendoline Christie (Game of Thrones, Star Wars: Episode VII & VIII).
It tells the inspiring and extraordinary true story of the Teague family–journalist Matt (Affleck), his vibrant wife Nicole (Johnson), and their two young daughters–and how their lives are upended by Nicole’s heartbreaking diagnosis of terminal cancer.
As Matt’s responsibilities as caretaker and parent become increasingly overwhelming, the couple’s best friend Dane Faucheux (Segel) offers to come and help out. As Dane puts his life on hold to stay with his friends, the impact of this life-altering decision proves greater and more profound than anyone could have imagined.
It had its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 6, 2019. This R-rated movie holds a 77% RT score based on 26 reviews. The film is scheduled to be released in theatres and on-demand simultaneously.

The Little Things is HBO Max’s original neo-noir crime psychological thriller film written and directed by John Lee Hancock (The Blind Side, The Founder), and produced by Hancock and Mark Johnson.

It follows Deke (Washington), a burnt-out Kern County, CA deputy sheriff who teams with Baxter (Malek), a crack LASD detective, to nab a serial killer. Deke’s nose for the “little things” proves eerily accurate, but his willingness to circumvent the rules embroils Baxter in a soul-shattering dilemma. Meanwhile, Deke must wrestle with a dark secret from his past.
This is one of the films WB decided to launch against the traditional release window. The Little Things is set to be released in the US as well as a month-long simultaneous release on the HBO Max streaming service. Since it is a Lee Hancock movie and starring a stellar cast this film is a must-watch.

Breaking News in Yuba County is a comedy-drama directed by Tate Taylor (The Help, Winter’s Bone, Ma), from a screenplay by Amanda Idoko. Taylor and Jake Gyllenhaal serve as producers. This R-rated comedy with a stellar cast sounds like a lot of fun which we should not miss.
It stars Allison Janney (Juno, Bad Education), Mila Kunis (Black Swan), Awkwafina (Crazy Rich Asians, The Farewell), Samira Wiley (Orange Is the New Black), Bridget Everett (Little Evil), Jimmi Simpson (Westworld), Ellen Barkin (The Fan), Juliette Lewis (From Dusk Till Dawn), Keong Sim (Dead to Me), Wanda Sykes (Black-ish), and Regina Hall (Little, Shaft).
An overlooked pencil-pusher (Janney) catches her husband cheating on her, the shock of which causes him to die of a heart attack. So she buries his body and takes advantage of the growing celebrity status that comes from having a missing husband.
But she quickly finds herself in over her head, dodging a wanna-be mobster (Awkwafina), a relentless local policewoman (Hall), her half-sister (Kunis) a local news reporter desperate for a story, and her husband’s dead-beat brother (Simpson), who all set out to uncover the truth behind the disappearance. This film will be released in select theatres.

Palmer is Apple TV+ original drama film, directed by Fisher Stevens (Before the Flood) from a screenplay by Cheryl Guerriero. The R-rated film stars Justin Timberlake (The Social Network), Ryder Allen, Alisha Wainwright (Shadowhunters), June Squibb (Hubie Halloween, Good Girls), and Juno Temple (Ted Lasso).
The film is about Eddie Palmer (Timberlake), a former college football star, who saw his professional career shattered after he was imprisoned. He returns to his hometown after spending time in prison only to find trouble hounding him from his past. He then forms an unlikely friendship with a boy who was abandoned by his mother. While caring for him, Eddie also meets and starts a relationship with Maggie (Wainwright), a teacher.

The Dig
The Dig is Netflix’s original drama directed by Simon Stone (The Daughter), based on the 2007 novel of the same name by John Preston, which reimagines the events of the 1939 excavation of Sutton Hoo.
Synopsis: As WWII looms, a wealthy widow hires an amateur archaeologist to excavate the burial mounds on her estate. When they make a historic discovery, the echoes of Britain’s past resonate in the face of its uncertain future.
It stars Carey Mulligan (Drive, Promising Young Woman, The Great Gatsby), Ralph Fiennes (Harry Potter, The Grand Budapest Hotel), Lily James (Cinderella, Baby Driver), Johnny Flynn (Emma), Ben Chaplin (Cinderella), Ken Stott (The Hobbit, War & Peace), and Monica Dolan (Kick-Ass 2, Never Let Me Go).
It is scheduled to be released in a limited release on 15 January 2021, before being released digitally on Netflix.
