True believers and webheads! Sony Pictures Animation’s eagerly anticipated Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse 2 has found its directing team, enlisting the creative minds of Joaquim Dos Santos (DC Showcase/Legend of Korra/Voltron: Legendary Defender), Kemp Powers (Soul), and Justin K. Thompson (Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs) at the helm.
THE ADVENTURE CONTINUES IN INTO THE SPIDER-VERSE 2
With the first installment, Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse, setting such a high bar for its sequel, this next chapter in the story of Miles Morales aims to be more ambitious, thrilling, and colorful than its predecessor.
According to Variety, the team has been hard at work utilizing a screenplay by returning writers and producers Phil Lord and Chris Miller alongside David Callaham, who is producing the most recent revealed Marvel Studios’ MCU film, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. Amy Pascal, Avi Arad, and Christina Steinberg will be returning as producers while Alonzo Ruvalcaba will co-produce the film and Peter Ramsey with Aditya Sood as executive producers.
While details for Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse 2 are yet to be unveiled, there is speculation that in addition to having Oscar Isaac (Miguel O’Hara/Spider-Man 2099) joining the cast, Shameik Moore (Miles Morales), Hailee Steinfeld (Gwen Stacy/Spider-Gwen), Jake Johnson (Peter B. Parker/Spider-Man), Brian Tyree Henry (Jefferson Davis), Lily Tomlin (Aunt May), Luna Lauren Velez (Rio Morales), Zoë Kravitz (Mary Jane Parker), John Mulaney (Peter Porker/Spider-Ham), Kimiko Glenn (Penny Parker), and/or Nicolas Cage (Spider-Man Noir) may return to reprise their roles as their respective characters.
