Spider-Man: No Way Home can’t come soon enough. The third film installment of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s version of everyone’s favorite wall-crawler swings into theaters next month and fans and are curious about what surprises we can all expect.

So far it has been revealed that Spider-Man: No Way Home will be a film that explores the multiverse. Cinematic villains of Spider-Man’s past will return such as William Dafoe’s Green Goblin, Alfred Molina’s Doctor Octopus, Jamie Foxx’s Electro, Rhys Ifans’ Lizard, and Thomas Haden Church’s Sandman. Now with these past villains’ roles confirmed in the latest trailer and posters, its reasonable to assume the other two cinematic live-action Spider-Men will appear (Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield).

Recently there have been interviews from Maguire and Garfield either denying or dodging questions for their involvement in No Way Home. However with these past Spidey villains showing up and the concept of Spider-Verse being introduced, it’s hard to believe either Maguire or Garfield won’t reprise their roles as Spider-Man. Now, the rumors of their appearance have started to heat up once again as former Spider-Man film directors, Sam Raimi and Marc Webb, have been involved in No Way Home.

According to recent reports, Marvel Studios and Sony have brought in Raimi and Webb as consultants for No Way Home. As we all know Raimi directed the original Spider-Man film trilogy starring Maguire, while Webb has directed The Amazing Spider-Man films starring Garfield. So having these past two former directors as consultants is not a coincidence. Then again Raimi and Webb could just been asked to become consultants in handling the villains that were featured in their Spider-Man film.

According to reports, “Raimi and Webb’s input was used to “fill in certain gaps regarding several of the returning villains, with the filmmakers being consulted in telling how both Spider-Man 3 ‘s Sandman and The Amazing Spider-Man ‘s Lizard died off-screen in the time following their respective films.” If this report is indeed true we will get to see on how Raimi’s Sandman and Webb’s Lizard died after events of their respective films. It’s mainly because in the recent No Way Home trailer Dr. Strange reveals to Holland’s Peter Parker that these villains died fighting their respective Spider-Men.

However the report does say the film will suggest what has happened to Maguire’s and Garfield’s Spider-Man after the conclusion of their recent films. The report states that “Spider-Man: No Way Home will reveal what Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield’s versions of Peter Parker have been up to following the events of their final movies, as well as how being Spider-Man has affected them through the years.” If true that statement is no doubt what fans want to know and are very much looking forward too. All we can just do is wait and see.
