Star Wars has finally returned with the first episode of The Book Of Boba Fett, which premiered on Disney Plus December 29, 2021. Fans were introduced to a new Boba Fett who has been changed by the events he’s lived through after falling into the sarlacc pit during Return Of The Jedi. Boba Fett took Jabba’s criminal empire by force after killing Bib Fortuna in a post credit scene after The Mandalorian’s second season finale.
But Boba Fett makes it clear in the first episode that he wants to be a crime lord that runs his business on respect instead of fear. Fans were given the first hints of why Boba Fett’s mentality may have changed through flashbacks that reveal how he survived the sarlacc pit, lost his armor, and much more during the series premiere.
The Book Of Boba Fett features the return of composer Ludwig Göransson (The Mandalorian) to a galaxy far, far away. In the new main title theme for The Book Of Boba Fett Göransson incorporates a different Star Wars theme, specifically the theme for Crimson Dawn from Solo: A Star Wars Story. The Crimson Dawn theme was composed by John Powell with contribution from the legendary Star Wars composer John Williams. Keep an ear out at the 1:49 mark to hear how the Crimson Dawn theme comes into play in this new main title theme.
THE BOOK OF BOBA FETT MAIN TITLE THEME
Fans have been hoping that Book Of Boba Fett will follow in the footsteps of The Mandalorian by including some truly exciting cameos and this could be teasing just that. Crimson Dawn is a criminal syndicate originally run by the Sith and former apprentice of Emperor Palpatine, Darth Maul. In Solo: A Star Wars Story Qi’ra (Emilia Clarke) became the face of the organization working directly for Maul after Dryden Vos was killed.

Darth Maul was killed in another dual with Obi-Wan Kenobi this time on Tatooine long before the events of The Book Of Boba Fett. This seems to point to Crimson Dawn coming into play after Maul’s death. Although considering the fact that Book Of Boba Fett seems to be including numerous flashbacks there is a definite possibility of Darth Maul himself making some sort of appearance.
This could mean that Qi’ra is the current leader of Crimson Dawn and the inclusion of the criminal syndicates theme in The Book Of Boba Fett’s main title theme could hint at the inclusion of Crimson Dawn in some capacity. Fans have been hoping for the return of Qi’ra since her debut in Solo especially with where her story left off at the end of the film. Emilia Clarke herself has shown interest in returning to Star Wars and Book Of Boba Fett seems like the perfect opportunity.

Not only is Qi’ra a major player in the criminal underworld she has another connection to Boba as well. Both Qi’ra and Boba are connected through the smuggler turned Rebel Han Solo. Qi’ra was the first love of Solo while Boba not only delivered him to Jabba the Hutt, the bounty hunter turned crime lord could hold Solo responsible for his time in the sarlacc pit and everything that came after.
With Boba Fett taking control of a major criminal empire he could become a threat to the other major players in the galaxy’s criminal underworld. Fett has always been involved in the criminal underworld of Star Wars becoming a bounty hunter after the death of his father, spending time in prison in The Clone Wars, working for the Hutt Cartel in the original trilogy, and now taking over Jabba’s palace and criminal empire on Tatooine. Brining other players in from the Star Wars criminal underworld, especially an established powerful crime syndicate like Crimson Dawn, seems like the perfect way to add even more conflict and danger to the series.

Darth Maul could come into play in flashbacks as the former leader of Crimson Dawn, but Qi’ra making an appearance in the present as a rival crime boss seems like an even more likely possibility. Hopefully as Book Of Boba Fett continues more of the criminal underworld of Star Wars will be explored with the return of established characters and organizations like Crimson Dawn and possibly Qi’ra and/or Darth Maul. With the musical tease hinting at Crimson Dawn possibly playing an important role in the new series, given its place in the main title theme, it seems like Book Of Boba Fett is primed to be an especially exciting new Star Wars series.
