Peacemaker got pretty deep into production before casting the role of Vigilante according to James Gunn.
Hollywood magic is a truly mystical thing. Turns humans into animals, lets people fly, and also recast roles in the middle of production. In a recent interview with ScreenRant, James Gunn reveals that he had to recast Vigilante while being five episodes deep into the production of Peacemaker.

When the series was in development it was announced that actor Chris Conrad was set to play Adrian Chase/Vigilante, who is a punisher-like anti-hero who’d sworn revenge on those who break the law following the murder of his wife and kids. It was supposedly reported that Conrad left the project due to “creative differences” and Freddie Stroma had been set to recast the role.
James Gunn reveals that Freddie Stroma came into the series late due to Conrad departing from creative differences. Though there were creative differences, Gunn had nothing but praise for Conrad. Gunn and his crew were, fortunately, able to recast the role quickly and the series looks to be no worse for wear because of it. Fans of the former member of The Suicide Squad will get to see them interact soon when the series releases later this week.
