The Book Of Boba Fett Should Bring The Brutal Bounty Hunter Durge Into Live-Action

The Book Of Boba Fett should introduce the deadly bounty hunter, Durge, into the live-action Star Wars TV series.

The Book Of Boba Fett should introduce the deadly bounty hunter, Durge, into the live-action Star Wars TV series.

Durge was created during the prequel era of the Star Wars franchise. He appeared in comic books, novels, and most famously, Genndy Tartakovsky’s 2003 Clone Wars TV series. That Clone Wars series is not Disney canon and should not be confused with the more famous Star Wars: The Clone Wars TV series headed by Dave Filoni, which Tartakovsky’s series predates. That being said, the 2003 Clone Wars series is an amazing piece of Star Wars media that features some of the best action in the series, especially during the Durge fight scenes.

The Book Of Boba Fett Would Feature A Terrifying Antagonist In Durge

Durge is a hulking warrior who fights Obi-Wan Kenobi and the Clone Army. He was an infamous bounty hunter, recruited by the Separatists to give them a leg up in the Clone Wars. As a member of the Gen’Dai species, Durge can regenerate and possesses speed and strength on par with Jedi and Sith warriors. In Star Wars Legends, he was a formidable foe to the Republic, nearly killing Kenobi in their duel, though the Jedi Master ultimately got the upper hand.

Durge is a violent, unstable, and incredibly terrifying bounty hunter. While his Expanded Universe stories were rendered irrelevant when Disney took over and rebooted the canon, Durge eventually appeared in the new Star Wars universe. In Disney Canon, Durge appeared in Doctor Aphra (2020) #10 & #11. He was teased in the final panel of issue ten, and he guest-starred in issue 11. He was ultimately duped by Doctor Aphra and abandoned, never to be seen again, but his survival was confirmed.

The Book Of Boba Fett Should Devote A Chapter To Durge

Solo: A Star Wars Story broke ground in Disney Canon when it included Darth Maul, referencing The Clone Wars TV series in a Star Wars film in a major way for the first time. The Book Of Boba Fett did a similar thing for Star Wars comics in Disney canon, introducing Black Krrsantan to the live-action Star Wars universe. Black Krssantan was a major character in the Doctor Aphra Star Wars comics, and his arrival and subsequent fight on Boba Fett thrilled harcore fans across the globe.

The Book Of Boba Fett should continue this tradition of bringing lesser-known Disney canon characters from other mediums into live-action with Durge. The legendary bounty hunter has been painfully underused in the new Star Wars universe. His physical appearance and powerset would make him a visual spectacle unlike any other on Disney+ Star Wars. Durge is powerful, so full of rage that he could stand his own in a fight against Boba Fett on Rancor-back.

The Book Of Boba Fett Explores The Underworld & Durge Should Be A Part Of It

Alternatively, The Book Of Boba Fett could introduce Durge as an ally of Boba Fett in a later season. Perhaps they have a secret history together, leading Durge to Tatooine, where he could help Boba run the underworld with an iron fist. Perhaps a Boba Fett season two arc could focus on conflict between Doctor Aphra and Boba, which brings Durge into the fray, seeking revenge on Aphra.

The Book Of Boba Fett is the perfect Star Wars project to deliver fans Durge in live-action, and Disney could really elevate the series by taking this amazing character off the bench.
