This week’s The Book of Boba Fett episode featured a lot of cool moments and surprises including a quick cameo of a familiar character from The Mandalorian series.

The latest Star Wars Disney+ series explores Temuera Morrison‘s Boba Fett at two different points in time simultaneously. One is his time with Tusken Raiders after he escapes from the Sarlacc Pit, in the timeline that takes place during the events of Star Wars: Episode VI – Return of the Jedi. And the other one is after The Mandalorian Season 2 with Boba as the crimelord of Tatooine.

The first episode of the show focuses on both timelines almost equally whereas in Episode-2 the Tusken Raiders storyline is longer than the crimelord part. This week’s episode was devoted to exploring the former bounty hunter’s new role as Mos Espa’s crimelord more, but we did get a small sequence set in the past.

In the third episode, we get a flashback to what happened after the train chase and after Boba became part of the tribe. At this point, he’s clearly been with the Tusken Raiders for some time because when we see him going to Mos Eisley, we see Stormtrooper helmets mounted on spears and that means we are caught up to the fall of the Empire. So there is a little time jump in that Tusken Raider timeline from the last episode to this episode.

The show doesn’t really acknowledge anything about Fett reacting to what had happened with the Empire. Fett seems unfazed that his one-time employer is no more, though it makes sense that we know he’s only ever been loyal to himself, at least before being accepted by Tusken’s of the Dune Sea.

But in that sequence, an interesting thing that might fly under the radar for some people transpires. There is a background cameo in one frame. If you blink-and-you’d-miss-it easter egg happens. A familiar figure from this shows predecessor, The Mandalorian, can be seen in the background.

Take a look at this Easter Egg from today’s episode of The Book of Boba Fett below.

Who Was The Book of Boba Fett Cameo Most People Missed?

Pei Motto The Mandalorian The Book of Boba Fett

As Boba rides through the spaceport on a Bantha, a familiar character can be seen in the background walking with her Pit Droids: Peli Motto. Played by Amy Sedaris, she first appeared in The Mandalorian Season 1 Chapter 5: The Gunslinger, and then in Chapters 9 & 10 of Season 2.

Peli Motto became one of many key allies to Din Djarin and even made something of a bond with Grogu and quickly became something of a fan-favorite supporting character of that show. The Mandalorian supposedly takes place five years after Return of the Jedi so all the flashback sequences in this show will be way before that, so Motto hasn’t met Mando yet.

Motto’s appearance in The Book of Boba Fett makes for a delightful Easter Egg, but we can’t help but wonder whether Fett could cross paths with her in the rest of the show during his adventures in these flashbacks. If not, then this is still a cool way to link both shows for fans keeping a watchful eye for easter eggs.

Also, since it’s Mos Eisley, the helmet on spears thing is a common production detail between The Book of Boba Fett and The Mandalorian, as both shows take place after the fall of the Empire. In The Mandalorian Chapter 5: The Gunslinger, the Tatooine episode of season 1, there is a similar shot of helmets on spears, might be the same ones too.

In the coming episodes, there will certainly be more cameos and easter eggs, hopefully, some of which blow our minds. So keep an eye on such things in the following episodes.
