A new report has pegged Inhumans actor Anson Mount for a return to his Black Bolt role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Marvel is fully engrossing itself into the multiverse first on Disney Plus with Loki and What If…? followed by the massive box-office success Spider-Man: No Way Home. Spider-Man: No Way Home proved how successful cameos can be not only in drawing in fans, but when used well, in elevating the story. Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness looks like it will be diving fully into the insanity of the multiverse and part of the fun will likely be countless cameos.
There have been a ton of rumors of potential cameos, but fans got their best hints in the new trailer and poster which teased Captain Carter, multiple Doctor Strange variants, and the voice of a certain famous professor. It looks like Doctor Strange will be running into some trouble with a multiverse Illuminati, which seems to include the fan favorite mutant Professor Xavier. Another member rumored to be a part of this group is a member of the Inhumans royal family and an Illuminati in the comics, Black Bolt.
ANSON MOUNT REPRISING HIS ROLE AS BLACK BOLT IN DOCTOR STRANGE IN THE MULTIVERSE OF MADNESS?
Last December FandomWire reported that Black Bolt would appear in Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness as a part of The Illuminati, but didn’t reveal who would be playing the silent Inhuman. However, it seems there may finally be an answer, Screen Geek has reported that Anson Mount will be playing Black Bolt reprising his role from the short-lived ABC series Inhumans.

Black Bolt. aka Blackagar Boltagon, is the ruler of Atillan and a part of the Inhumans royal family. Black Bolt has the ability to harness electrons, which is tied to the speech center of his brain. This manifests in Black Bolt’s voice causing a shock wave that can level a city, because of this Black Bolt has been trained not to speak or even make a sound when he sleeps, instead he communicates through sign language or via a spokesperson.
It will be interesting to see how Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness introduces Anson Mount as Black Bolt. Screen Geek reports Anson Mount will be playing a variant, but does that mean a variant from the MCU’s “sacred timeline”, which could be the same one from the television series, or is it an entirely new version of the character?
Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness could prove to be the MCU’s most insane adventure yet with Doctor Strange facing consequences for his actions in Spider-Man: No Way Home while traversing the multiverse with America Chavez in her MCU debut. In the newest trailer Wanda Maximoff is in full Scarlet Witch regalia and it seems she has a plan after what she went through in WandaVision. Confronting Strange for the double standard by which they are judged.
Doctor Strange is rumored to be full of exciting cameos with even more being filmed during last year’s reshoots. How these cameos will play into the larger story are still a mystery, but the inclusion of Inhumans, Mutants, and possibly even more could kick open the door for a new era in the MCU.
Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness is scheduled to hit theaters May 6, 2022. Are you excited to see Anson Mount return as Black Bolt? Do you think Anson Mount should stick around in the MCU?
