The Expedition Bigfoot team revealed their favorite filming location and if Bigfoot is a species.
There are many urban legends and legendary creatures out there. One of the most well-known is Bigfoot. For decades the Bigfoot has fascinated millions of people worldwide, especially zoologists, geneticists, and primatologists. Bigfoot’s legacy has expanded through many shows and documentaries, including the Travel Channel’s Expedition Bigfoot.
Expedition Bigfoot is a reality television series where a team of four professionals investigate the iconic sasquatch’s existence through advanced technology, research, evidence, and reported sightings. The group consists of Dr. Mireya Mayor (primatologist), Russell Acord (ex-military/survivalist), Ronny LeBlanc (Bigfoot researcher), and Bryce Johnson (expedition operations). The team has gone on expeditions throughout the series such as Oregon, Kentucky, and Washington State. The series started in 2019 and is currently in its third season.
Throughout the series, the team uses an advanced data algorithm to narrow their search for Bigfoot in designated hot spots nationwide. From these hot spots, the team uses analyzed data, migration patterns, and recent witness reports to lock in potential locations or areas for them to investigate. The team also worked alongside many professionals and experts regarding Bigfoot. One of these notable professionals the team has worked with is world-renowned primatologist, Dr. Jane Goodall.
We at The Illuminerdi had the opportunity to speak with the Expedition Bigfoot team at Wondercon 2022. We asked the team what their favorite location to film was and the most compelling evidence they found during their expeditions. We also asked them if they believe Bigfoot was the last remaining survivor of unique species or if there are more of them.
Bigfoot: The Last Remaining Survivor Of A Species?
The Illuminerdi: Is Bigfoot the last remaining survivor of a species, or are there more of them?
Bryce Johnson: That is a great question and one that we probably don’t have the answers to because we don’t have a body on a lab table. So all we can do is sort of surmise from what we know and postulate. But if you are asking me, I would have uhm; I don’t know. I get stuck between whether it’s some relic hominid or perhaps something stranger. I am not quite sure.

The Team Reveals Their Favorite Expedition And Which Location Had The Most Compelling Evidence
The Illuminerdi: You have all done incredible expeditions in Oregon, Kentucky, and Washington State. Which of the three locations was your favorite, and believe you found the most compelling evidence on Bigfoot?

Ronny Leblanc: I’d have to say Washington State.
Dr. Mireya Mayor: Yeah, Washington State too.
Russell Acord: Yeah, It’s given us a lot of evidence of, really interesting evidence. But as much as I love Washington it’s always that first expedition that when we met in Oregon. It just kind of broke ground and started getting our rhythm.
Dr. Mireya Mayor: Although Kentucky yielded some really good stuff too. We got a very surprising find there that even the geneticist like to raise an eyebrow. None of us where expecting to find chimpanzee DNA in the Kentucky forest.
Bryce Johnson: Yeah, that offered up that DNA sample (referring to the Kentucky expedition)
Russell Acord: It’s hard to pick a favorite because they are all just amazing areas.
Expedition Bigfoot Team | Wondercon 2022
As a massive fan of shows involving myths, legends, and the paranormal, Expedition Bigfoot is a series that I highly recommend watching. After my interview with the Expedition Bigfoot team, I re-watched some episodes of Season 1, binge-watched all of Season 2, and have caught up with Season 3. I have to say all of the locations the team has explored, especially Washington State, are fascinating. I can see now why Ronny and Dr. Mayor chose Washington State as their favorite expedition. But the question still remains, is Bigfoot the last surviving member of a species, or are there more of them. Once the team finds Bigfoot we’ll hopefully have our answers.
