Star Wars has a ton of compelling new projects on the horizon including the highly anticipated Obi-Wan Kenobi in May, the third season of The Mandalorian, Ahsoka, and The Acolyte.
The Acolyte is one of the most mysterious new Star Wars series coming to Disney Plus causing quite a bit of excitement and theorizing. Helmed by Leslye Headland, who serves as showrunner and writer for the upcoming series The Acolyte will be exploring a yet untouched era in Star Wars. The Acolyte has been described as a mystery thriller that will take audiences into a galaxy of shadowy secrets and emerging dark side powers in the final days of the High Republic era.
Star Wars has been building the High Republic era through a series of ongoing novels and comics, but so far, the story has been focused on the most prosperous and powerful period of this era. However, The Acolyte will be set during the end of this era and dive into the emergence of the power of the Dark Side.
Many have theorized that the lead will in fact be a Dark Side wielder based on the title of the new series. Acolyte is commonly used to describe a Dark Side apprentice. The Dark Side of The Force and those that wield it have always been an integral part of Star Wars, but this series could be the first time this aspect of the Star Wars universe is truly studied.
2 NEW CHARACTER DESCRIPTIONS FOR THE ACOLYTE
We here at The Illuminerdi broke the news of Amandla Stenberg’s involvement in The Acolyte with the actor set to play the mysterious lead, Aura. We’ve continued scouring for information about this mysterious Star Wars series and have now discovered intriguing details about two new characters, Paul and Miri.
Lucasfilm looking to cast a Caucasian man in his 50s to play Paul and while we haven’t been able to find too many details about this character we have learned that Paul will be a series regular and as of now it seems this is a character that will only be a part of the series for one season.
Lucasfilm is looking to cast a young Black girl to portray 8-10 years old to play Miri. Miri is described as a Lead Guest Star and interestingly it seems Lucasfilm might be looking for identical twins.

Who exactly these characters are and their potential ties to Aura remain a mystery, but one part of Paul’s description stands out. Does the one-year deal for Paul point to The Acolyte having multiple seasons? It is possible that Lucasfilm is looking to cast twins to portray Miri could be due to child labor laws. Much of The Acolyte still remains a mystery, but it is exciting to know they are filling out the cast.
Last year The Acolyte was reportedly scheduled to begin filming early this year, but it seems things may have changed. According to our sources, The Acolyte is now scheduled to begin production in October of this year and expected to wrap by May 2023.
The Acolyte stands out among an impressive Star Wars lineup as an opportunity to explore an entirely new period within Star Wars and dive into the struggle between the Light and Dark Side of The Force like never before. With Aura potentially being a Dark Side Acolyte, it will be exciting to see if the series tracks her fall to the Dark Side or if the thriller aspect ties into her need to hide which side of The Force she taps into. With a bit more information about the cast it seems The Acolyte has some exciting movement and hopefully more about Paul and Miri will be revealed soon.
