Star Wars has a ton of new content coming out in the next few years, but one of the most mysterious projects is The Acolyte. Not many details are known about Leslye Headland’s new series, but what has been revealed is extremely exciting. The Acolyte will be set in a time period that Star Wars has never before explored on screen.
The series will be set during the final days of the High Republic roughly 200 years before the Skywalker Saga, a time period that has thus far only been explored in books and comics. That being said the High Republic comics and books have only explored that era in its prime while The Acolyte will be set as the period of prosperity comes to an end.
The time period in which The Acolyte is set isn’t the only thing unique about this series. The new series will specifically explore the rise of the Dark Side in those final days of the High Republic era. The Acolyte has the opportunity to explore the Dark Side in a way the franchise never has on screen before.
The Dark Side is an integral part of Star Wars, but it has only really been portrayed as evil with Jedi losing themselves and falling from grace and good. The Acolyte has the chance to not only explore darker characters then are usually at the center of Star Wars series or films, but it also has the potential to dig into the complexities of The Force and the Dark Side versus the Light Side.
THE ACOLYTE‘S WORKING TITLE
With so few details out there about The Acolyte we at The Illuminerdi have been tirelessly looking for news information and we managed to dig up some intriguing new details. We at The Illuminerdi can exclusive reveal the working title for The Acolyte and what seems to be the main character’s name.
According to our sources the working title for The Acolyte is ‘Paradox‘. Paradox opens a lot of interesting possibilities in what it could be in reference to. Is Paradox referring to the main character, the perspective of the series, or even what the show will be exploring? It has also been reported that The Acolyte will begin filming in February, but according to our sources it looks like production may have been pushed and will instead begin filming in early summer 2022.
Although it has already been reported that Lucasfilm is looking to cast a woman of color in her late teens to early twenties to play the lead role we’ve managed to uncover what seems to be the character’s name. From what we’ve learned the lead in The Acolyte will be named Aura. It is possible that this is a code name meant to obscure the actual identity of the character. However, given that this is a period of time in Star Wars canon that is unexplored, there wouldn’t be too many well-known established characters that this could be, so it seems a bit more likely that this could be the characters actual name.
The Acolyte is a mystery thriller and rumored to include martial arts elements in the series. Being set in an entirely new era in Star Wars canon, focusing on the Dark Side as it rises to power and insidiously infiltrates the rest of the galaxy opens the door to this series being a truly unique adventure for Star Wars fans to experience.
With so many new series coming including The Book Of Boba Fett, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Andor, and Ahsoka, Star Wars is expanding the story and exploring the galaxy in exciting new ways. And with The Acolyte joining the ranks, Star Wars is truly diving into a new era of storytelling. Hopefully new information about this mysterious series will come to light soon and reveal more about this enigmatic series.
