Benedict Wong talk’s about how Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness fits into the Wong Cinematic Universe, or as it is lovingly referred to, the Wong CU.

Given that today is Benedict Wong’s birthday, it seemed only appropriate to talk about the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s unifying presence, Wong. Benedict Wong has reprised his role as Wong all over Phase 4. After Avengers: Endgame, we first see Wong appear in a cage fight against Abomination in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. Shortly after that, we see him taking care of his grand duties as the Sorceror Supreme in Spider-Man: No Way Home. Followed by seeing him again protecting the world from the Scarlet Witch in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. He’s also slated to appear in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law.

Benedict Wong is everywhere in Phase 4 in what appears to be an expanding overall role in the MCU. Kevin Feige and Benedict Wong have talked about the role and has gone on to refer to it as the WCU or the Wong Cinematic Universe. We don’t know exactly what it entails, and it seems like Benedict Wong and Kevin Feige are due to talk about it and expand on it more. See what he had to say about it during the Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness press conference.

Thank you yeah, it is the WCU. I think we’re coming to the end of it. We’re due another discussion. As I said many times, as a comic book fan and having collected all the Marvel Comics, to be on board and living this dream really. As the nerd that crossed the line, who gets play with these amazing actors, auteurs, writers, and producers. It’s just a win-win for me.

Benedict Wong, Wong in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness

It seems like Benedict Wong is not willing to let anything slip, but that there is more opportunities for him to interact with the other performers and storytellers. We know we’ll see Wong in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, likely in connection to Emil Blonksy/Abomination’s character. Blonksy and Wong might have been working together in a sort of work release program to help rehabilitate Blonsky to be a contributing member of society, maybe even a hero. We’ll have to wait until August to find out about that. Wong may surprise us in Thor: Love and Thunder and the Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special also.

We know we’ll get to see Wong again for sure with Spider-Man: No Way Home “The More Fun Stuff Version,” but outside of She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, we have no guarantees. But from what Benedict Wong said, the opportunities for him to play with others is there so we shouldn’t be surprise to see Wong popping up in other Marvel projects.

Until then, you can watch Wong team up with Dr. Strange and America Chavez in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness available now on Digital and Disney+ and 4K UHD, Blu-Ray, and DVD on July 26, 2022.

Professional Nerd | Amateur Human | Creative/Content Director The best way to describe Kevin Fenix is the kid you never tell what the buttons do in video games so you have a chance to win. Being 6’ 4” and Asian, he never really fit in, so he got comfortable standing out. Not only is it easy to find him in crowds, he dabbles in the culinary arts, does a little stand up and improv, and can honestly say Spider-Man is the Jesus-like influence of his life. Kevin Fenix loves dogs, movies, television, comics, comedy, and to shoot people… with video.
