Doctor Doom IS NOT IN Wakanda Forever, But A New Rumor Claims He Will Arrive In Fantastic 4

Doctor Doom is rumored to make his MCU debut in the post-credits scene of the upcoming Fantastic Four movie.

Doctor Doom is rumored to make his MCU debut in the post-credits scene of the upcoming Fantastic Four movie.

Doctor Doom is one of the most iconic Marvel supervillains yet to make their debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. His arrival has been on the horizon ever since the landmark Fox-Disney merger granted the House of Mouse access to Doctor Doom, Fantastic Four and their associated properties. Though there were rumors about Doctor Doom first appearing in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever circulating the internet for years, these were proven to be baseless in a recent interview

Speaking with the Phase Zero podcast, Marvel producer Nate Moore revealed that Namor was the only antagonist ever planned for Wakanda Forever. Doctor Doom was apparently never a consideration, although Moore did express a passion for Latveria and Doom’s corner of the Marvel universe.

DOCTOR DOOM WAS APPARENTLY NEVER CONSIDERED FOR WAKANDA FOREVER

“[Doctor Doom] is such a great character and the world of Latveria is so fantastic… but once we decided that Namor is the antagonist, that was always going to be the focus.”

– Nate Moore, Producer on Black Panther: Wakanda Forever

Namor will be played by Tenoch Huerta in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, and his battle with Wakanda looks like a legend in the making, even without Doom. While Doctor Doom’s fanbase may be saddened by this news, Doctor Doom is still rumored to be making his way to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Jeff Sneider of the Hot Mic Podcast claims that Doctor Doom is going to be introduced during the credits of the new Fantastic Four movie.

“I’m told that Doctor Doom is not the villain of Fantastic Four, that Doctor Doom will be introduced basically in like a mid-credit or post-credit scene [in Fantastic Four].”

– Jeff Sneider

DOCTOR DOOM RUMORED FOR FANTASTIC FOUR POST-CREDIT SCENE

Doctor Doom could still be the primary antagonist of Fantastic Four, as he is considered to be their archnemesis. And since Doom is the Joker to the Four’s Batman, it makes sense for him to debut in their first MCU movie. Whether that is in a post-credit scene or in the primary storyline remains to be seen, as this movie is still in an early stage of development. The plot is fluid and subject to change, and this post-credit scene could be cut from the final edit even if it is eventually filmed.

The sixth Avengers movie is Avengers: Secret Wars. That means it could be an adaptation of a very Doctor Doom focused storyline. In the most recent Secret Wars Marvel Comics Event, of which there have been several, Doctor Doom was the biggest obstacle in our heroes quest to save the multiverse.

His genius, lust for power, and magical talent lent him the strength necessary to steal the power of “The Beyonders”, mysterious beings from beyond our creation. He became God Emperor Doom, ruler of Battleworld, which was an amalgamation created from the remnants of a shattered multiverse. This epic storyline from Jonathan Hickman could be a major inspiration for Avengers: Secret Wars, meaning that Doom could play a bigger role than Marvel fans are currently expecting.

DOCTOR DOOM COULD BE THE VILLAIN OF AVENGERS: SECRET WARS

Doctor Doom is the star of Marvel’s Wastelanders: Doom, a narrative podcast set in the shared Wastelanders universe. It takes place after the events of Wastelanders: Wolverine, Black Widow, Star-Lord & Hawkeye. While it is not a traditional team-up quite like The Defenders or The Avengers, it does take place after those storylines, tying them all together. Supporting characters such as The Shadow King have also made their return to battle Victor Von Doom in this unique audio format.

Doctor Doom is voiced by Dylan Baker on Marvel’s Wastelanders: Doom. No one has been cast to play the character in the MCU yet. Toby Kebbell played Doom in Fantastic Four (2015), while Julian McMahon played Doom in Fantastic Four (2005). Those film adaptations are generally considered to be supbar. So in addition to Wastelanders: Doom, The Illuminerdi recommends Books Of Doom, a 6-issue miniseries written by Ed Brubaker. Those two stories complement each other well and serve as fantastic introductions to this classic Marvel villain.

Jon Watts, director of the MCU Spider-Man trilogy, was originally attached to direct Fantastic Four. Watts stepped down from the role in April of 2022.

Fantastic Four is currently slated for release on February 14th, 2025. Matt Shakman will direct a script from writers Jeff Kaplan and Ian Springer. Jeff Japlan and Ian Springer previously worked together on Bert And Arnie’s Guide To Friendship, an indie comedy. Kaplan and Springer recently signed with Creative Artist Agency, or CAA, one of the most prolific talent agencies in all of Hollywood.

According to this new rumor, Doctor Doom is going to debut during the credits of the Fantastic Four movie. Where he goes from there is anyone’s guess, but it looks like his introduction will be handled by fresh, exciting rising talent now entering the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
