The time has finally arrived, it's time to take a closer look at the 2023 Academy Awards nominations.

A glorious time to celebrate the fruits of labor that go into cinema is near with the Prestigious Oscars, now we know who might be taking home the Academy Awards.

After the recent Golden Globes ceremony, the SAG (Screen Actors Guild) Awards nominations, and the BAFTA nominations, we have not arrived at the big show, as the Academy has finally revealed their nominations for the 2023 Oscars.

So without further ado, let’s jump right into my final 2023 Oscar nominations:

PICTURE

Top Gun: Maverick

Nominees: Everything Everywhere All at Once, The Fabelmans, The Banshees of Inisherin, Elvis, Top Gun: Maverick, TÁR, Avatar: The Way of Water, All Quiet in the Western Front, Women Talking, Triangle of Sadness

The biggest surprise was the redemption of Women Talking. After it lost a lot of steam over the last few weeks, it’s quite surprising that it still made it in.

The nomination of Ostlund wasn’t on a lot of people’s predictions.

Riseborough’s different approach to campaigning, which included being praised by some of the industry’s most known faces.

SUPPORTING ACTOR

Everything Everywhere All At Once

Nominees: Ke Huy Quan – Everything Everywhere All at Once, Brendan Gleeson – The Banshees of Inisherin, Barry Keoghan – The Banshees of Inisherin, Judd Hirsch – The Fabelmans, Brian Tyree Henry – Causeway

The potentially biggest surprise of the day was Tyree Henry’s nomination.

This category once again proves the overperformance of Everything Everywhere All at Once, as the song nomination here was quite unexpected.

ANIMATED FEATURE

Pinocchio

Nominees: Pinocchio, Turning Red, Marcel the Shell with Shoes On, Puss in Boots: The Last Wish, The Sea Beast

The Sea Beast was unexpected, but in my opinion great nomination.

INTERNATIONAL FEATURE

Nominees: All Quiet on the Western Front, EO, The Quiet Girl, Argentina, 1985, Close

Decision to Leave missing here definitely was unexpected.

DOCUMENTARY FEATURE
