For fans that were excited for the opening of Super Nintendo World in Universal Studios Japan, unfortunately will have to wait a little while longer…once again. Its been announced by Universal Studios Japan that Super Nintendo World will no longer open next month.

Universal Studios Japan announced that they will reveal a new opening date once the state of emergency has been lifted. This isn’t the first time Super Nintendo World has been delayed as the park was originally supposed to open in early 2020, before the Tokyo 2020 Summer Olympics. But due to the pandemic, the park was forced to delay that opening.

Then on November 30th, Universal Studios Japan announced they would open the park on February 4, 2021. But as previously mentioned, Super Nintendo World was forced again to delay, now because of new outbreaks in Japan.

The state of emergency order was originally intended for Tokyo and its surrounding Metropolitan areas. However, that changed and it expanded to cover eleven of Japan’s prefectures that including Osaka. During the new lockdown citizens are discouraged from taking non-essentials trips outside of their homes. That includes restaurants, bars, movie theaters, and other establishments. With this new order it would be not ideal to open a theme park. Hopefully when this pandemic does get under control and cases lower, fans will be able to experience the magic of Super Nintendo World.

Super Nintendo World is an ambitious project for Nintendo. This will be the first time that the company will expand its Intellectual Property and hopefully gain new business ventures. When the park does open, fans will be able to experience attractions from Mario’s various video game adventures. Attractions such as Power Up Band Key Challenges, Yoshi’s Adventure, and Mario Kart: Koopa’s Challenge. Along with themed dining and shopping in the park. Those include the 1UP Factory, Kinopio’s Café, Pit Stop Popcorn, and Yoshi’s Snack Land. When the park does open, and when its safe, hopefully fans will experience a world of play.
