The Sleepless Unrest: The Real Conjuring Home is a documentary that purports to tackle the real story behind the famous house in the Conjuring franchise.

After the haunted house was recently sold, it is now open for paranormal investigators to research. A small group of close friends were then invited to move in and document the goings-on at the home for two weeks in The Sleepless Unrest, as explained by Bloody Disgusting.

The Conjuring films quickly became a massive success, spawning spin-offs like the Anabelle trilogy or The Nun. The third part of the Conjuring trilogy, Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It was released last month on HBO Max and is currently in theatres. There are no signs of this franchise ending soon, with more spin-offs and a likely fourth entry in the original series coming.

THE SLEEPLESS UNREST WILL MAKE THE AUDIENCE RESTLESS

The Sleepless Unrest review

The Sleepless Unrest takes us all the way back to 2013, when the original Conjuring hit theatres. It is a haunted house story based on real events and now the filmmakers behind this documentary stayed in exactly this house for two weeks and documented their experiences.

I went in hoping to learn a bit more about the real life incidents that happened in this house, but the only thing I got was 80 minutes of people talking and a random moving object every few minutes. I expected this documentary to be interesting for fans of the franchise, but honestly I don’t think so. There just isn’t anything even a tiny bit interesting about it.

There are 4 people staying in the house: two documentary filmmakers and two paranormal investigators. And most of the documentary is just them talking, placing electronics to find something paranormal or trying to act scared. As the film goes on it supposed to be scarier, but it just got even more weird and awkward.

In one scene, they talk to a roaring radio as if someone was answering them and then BAM a loud noise clearly added in post production and they go to the next room looking for that noise. The camera quality also goes from fairly good to seeming as if it was filmed with a potato – especially every time they saw something or someone.

I don’t see The Sleepless Unrest being interesting for anyone except some paranormal investigators who make it a hobby to check out the competition. Fans of the Conjuring franchise who hoped to learn more about the real life incidents will be disappointed. I for one definitely am.
