Major spoiler warning for Spider-Man: No Way Home! If you have not seen the movie or the mid and post credit scenes read at your own peril!
Spider-Man: No Way Home dove into the multiverse in a major way bringing in characters from Raimi’s Spider-Man trilogy and The Amazing Spider-Man duology throughout. Interestingly this multiversal craziness continued into both the mid and post credit scenes. Spider-Man: No Way Home followed the MCU tradition with some exciting scenes that have potentially massive implications for the future of the MCU including a first look at the highly anticipated Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness.
SPIDER-MAN: NO WAY HOME MID-CREDIT SCENE OPENS THE DOOR FOR AN MCU VENOM
Spider-Man: No Way Home features both a mid-credit scene and a post credit scenes which set up some pretty exciting possibilities for the MCU’s future. In the mid-credit scene fans finally caught up with Eddie Brock (Tom Hardy) as he attempts to comprehend the craziness of the universe he was dropped into in the post credit scene of Venom: Let There Be Carnage. Eddie, and Venom, are at a beach bar as he hilariously tries to wrap his head around heroes like Iron Man and the Hulk, as well as the villainous Thanos. Eddie is quick to argue with the bartender about the truth regarding aliens, they want to eat people not collect stones, he insists.
However, the bartender defensively reveals that his family disappeared for five years because of Thanos. Eddie stands deciding he may need to talk to Spider-Man, but before he can pay his tab Doctor Strange’s spell works and seems to send Eddie home to his own universe. Although fans weren’t able to see Venom interact with any of the villains, Doctor Strange, or the Spider-Men, this scene did mark an important moment in the MCU. At the end of the scene it is revealed that Venom left behind a drop of the symbiote goo which was quick to scurry away.

This mid-credit scene has now set up the potential introduction of a new MCU Venom, but also connects it to the Sony Venom movies. In the Venom: Let There Be Carnage post credit scene, the symbiote was explaining to his host that all symbiotes share a sort of hive mind memory across the multiverse. Should this goo bring a new Venom into the MCU they would be directly tied to Tom Hardy’s Venom by not only the hive mind across the multiverse, but as part of the original symbiote that bonded with Hardy’s Eddie Brock.
SPIDER-MAN: NO WAY HOME OFFERS FIRST LOOK AT DOCTOR STRANGE IN THE MULTIVERSE OF MADNESS
Spider-Man: No Way Home’s post credit scene was not a scene at all, instead it was the debut of the first trailer for Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness. Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness is the next MCU film and it looks to be just as chock full of multiversal mayhem as Spider-Man: No Way Home if not more. It seems Strange’s actions in Spider-Man: No Way Home and possibly the actions of the Avengers in Endgame have had irreparable effects on time and the multiverse.
In the trailer Strange is facing off against Mordo who looks quite different from the last time fans saw him, possibly a Mordo from a different universe. Strange goes to Wanda, who assumes he has come for her after her actions in Westview, but he reveals he actually needs her help with the multiverse.

The trailer also featured the first look at Xochitl Gomez as America Chavez, aka Miss America, the universe hopping superheroine. The trailer gives fans a peak at a monstrous being that looks to be either Gargantos or Shuma-Gorath as well. Interestingly it also seems that the dark version of Doctor Strange from What If…? may be making an appearance based on the final scene of the trailer.
The trailer seems to point to Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness being even crazier than Spider-Man: No Way Home with the Mutliverse, tons of characters, and a lot of potential for exciting cameos. It also seems to have some major ties to the MCU Disney Plus shows with Wanda post WandaVision, and likely fully embracing Scarlet Witch, possibly What If…? Doctor Strange Supreme, and even the after effects of Loki and Sylvie messing with the sacred time line in Loki potentially coming into play.

MCU mid and post credit scenes famously set up exciting potential in the MCU and Spider-Man: No Way Home definitely followed this pattern. With the Venom symbiote loose in the MCU and Doctor Strange needing to clean up the multiverse mess the MCU has a lot on its plate.
