Marvel Studios is once again hiring in-house for their next Avengers film, Avengers: The Kang Dynasty.
Since the release of Avengers Infinity War and Endgame, two of the highest-grossing movies of all time, fans have eagerly awaited seeing what’s next for the superhero team.
With their recent releases primarily focusing on establishing new heroes, fans began questioning Marvel’s plans for the MCU. Some took issue with there not being a clear direction in which the cinematic universe was heading.

Studio president Kevin Feige put those worries to rest last week at San Diego Comic-Con with the announcement of both Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars scheduled to release 2025.
While both projects are still far off from the beginning of production, it wasn’t a long wait for fans to get their next update on the highly-anticipated films.
Destin Daniel Cretton Set to Direct Avengers: The Kang Dynasty
The Hollywood Reporter’s Borys Kit has revealed that Marvel Studios has tapped director Destin Daniel Cretton to helm Avengers: The Kang Dynasty.
Cretton recently directed the Marvel hit Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, which saw worldwide success grossing over $400 million for the studio and pushing diversity and inclusion for the massive franchise.
Cretton’s other work includes the indie film Short Term 12, 2017’s The Glass Castle, and Just Mercy starring Marvel alums Michael B. Jordan, Brie Larson, and Jamie Foxx.

Following this success, Cretton signed a larger deal with Marvel Studios that includes a producing role for an upcoming Disney+ series focusing on Wonder Man, a Shang-Chi sequel, and now Avengers: The Kang Dynasty.
It’s unknown if any writers or actors are attached to the upcoming Avengers film.
What Do We Know About Avengers: The Kang Dynasty?
Avengers: The Kang Dynasty is one of two that will close out Phase 6 of the MCU and the recently titled Multiverse Saga. Besides the release date, the studio did not reveal more information regarding the project at SDCC. Given the title, it’s safe to assume that Jonathan Majors’ Kang the Conqueror will play a significant role. The actor made his debut as a variant of the character in Loki and will play a different version of his role in the upcoming Ant-Man and the Wasp Quantumania, which will begin Phase 5.
Feige teased at SDCC that fans could expect variants of Kang to appear across upcoming MCU projects.

Needless to say, Marvel fans are incredibly excited for the next Avengers film. It’s still unknown what other characters will appear or what the team’s roster will look like. Following the events of Avengers: Endgame, former members and leaders Steve Rogers, Tony Stark, and Natasha Romanoff are no longer around, and the team has yet to make an appearance to confirm they are still together.
Not only does Marvel Studios have the remaining Avengers from Endgame to use, but since Phase 4, the studio has introduced many more heroes like Shang-Chi, Moon Knight, Ms. Marvel, and She-Hulk. Following the studio’s SDCC panel, we now know that even more are on the way, with Blade, Daredevil, and the Fantastic Four all set to be introduced before the release of The Kang Dynasty.
