Titans Season 4: Fresh First Looks At Jinx, Brother Blood & Mother Mayhem

Titans Season 4 released an official first look at the supervillains Jinx, Brother Blood, and Mother Mayhem.

The fourth stars an ensemble cast of characters, including many familiar faces as well as some fresh ones. Wonder Girl, Starfire, Tim Drake, Nightwing, Beast Boy & the rest of the team will return this November in order to battle Lex Luthor, Jinx, Brother Blood, and Mother Mayhem. While fans are still eagerly awaiting the first official trailer for Titans Season 4, recently published images of the new supervillains coming to the show are still building excitement with the fandom.

The images provided Titans fans with our first clear look at three of the supervillains, specifically Jinx, Brother Blood, and Mother Mayhem. Titus Welliver’s Lex Luthor was unveiled by Entertainment Weekly several weeks ago. Concept art for the new villains was also released alongside the finalized designs.

THE TITANS’ LUCK IS ABOUT TO CHANGE WITH LISA AMBALAVANAR AS JINX

Titans Jinx

Jinx was created by Marv Wolfman and will Patton, first appearing in Tales Of The Teen Titans #56. Lisa Ambalavanar is an English actor of Indian heritage, slated to play the character in season four. She is most well-known for her work on the TV shows Doctors and The A-List. Jinx is a character from DC Comics, made more famous by her loose adaptation of the Teen Titans animated series. In the source material, Jinx is an elemental Indian sorceress who is often barefoot, as constant connection with the earth allows her to access her powers.

In the animated series, Jinx is a young woman with pale skin, purple hair, and the power of probability manipulation (Not unlike Deadpool 2’s Domino). The comic book and Teen Titans versions of Jinx share little in common outside of their name. Lisa Ambalavanar is the first actor to play the character in live-action, and she visually represents a melding of the comic book Jinx with the animated Jinx. Some fans would have liked to see the costume design for Jinx resemble the concept art and comic book look more closely.

FRANKA POTENTE IS NOT MOMMY DEAREST, SHE IS MOTHER MAYHEM

Franka Potente has starred in projects such as American Horror Story, The Conjuring 2, and The Bourne Identity. Mother Mayhem is the wife of Brother Blood. When Brother Blood was in charge, Mother Mayhem took a backseat in the Church, but in his absence, she led the cult with an iron fist and a strategic mind. May Bennett is Mother Mayhem’s civilian identity in Season 4, but that character is not the only one to wear the mantle in DC Comics.

Mother Mayhem (Anna Resik) was another woman who was forced into marriage with Brother Blood, eventually becoming a high-ranking member of the Church of Blood. Finally, a character named Sonya Tarinka became “Mother Blood”, the new leader of the church after Damian Wayne murdered Brother Blood. She had a connection to “source energy”, which gave her power over “The Red” and superpowers all her own.

THE ORIGINAL JOSEPH MORGAN AS BROTHER BLOOD

Joseph Morgan is known for his role as Klaus on The Vampire Diaries and the spinoff, The Originals. Brother Blood is a supervillain most commonly associated with the Church Of Blood. On Teen Titans, the animated series, Brother Blood was radically redesigned as the leader of H.I.V.E., abandoning his connection to Trigon and religious cults. The Church of Blood has been associated with Ravens’ demonic father Trigon in the past.

More recently, the Church of Blood was connected to “the Red”, a mystical force connecting all living creatures made of flesh and blood. Considering that Mother Mayhem, another leader of the Church of Blood, is joining Brother Blood in Titans Season 4, we have to assume that the Church will play a major role in the upcoming conflict.

Through Brother Blood, Mother Mayhem, and their Church Of Blood, the Titans’ creative team has the ability to tell a powerful, horrifying story about the danger of religious extremism. If they decided to take the story down that road, we might have some serious surprises in store with Titans Season 4.

Between Jinx, Lex Luthor, and the Church Of Blood, the Titans are going to have their hands full this season. Are these young heroes up to the challenge?

More information on Titans Season 4 is sure to come this weekend at New York Comic-Con. Titans has a panel on Sunday, October 9, 2022, where a trailer might finally be released to the public.
