The Marvel Cinematic Universe is the talk of the entertainment world after two massive weeks of WandaVision on Disney+. Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany are bringing new energy to the Scarlet Witch and the Vision with every episode, and their story is just starting to get into some crazy territory after the end of the episode released today.
This Disney+ series kicks off a huge year for Marvel Studios, which will release ten new MCU properties between now and December. Likely the last of these will be Marvel and Sony’s team-up effort for the untitled Spider-Man 3, which will undoubtedly make waves whose effects could be felt for years to come.
The cast of this movie is as expansive as any MCU solo movie to date with news releases from multiple outlets revealing major names at every turn. Doctor Strange, almost a half-dozen past Spidey villains, possibly both previous live-action Spider-Men and more are set to join in the madness of this multiversal web-slinging adventure. On top of all this, one of the MCU’s stars currently in the spotlight may be set for even more screen time in the near future.
Elizabeth Olsen on Scarlet Witch A Cameo in Spider-Man 3
In a recent interview with Capital FM, WandaVision star Elizabeth Olsen acknowledged the possibility that she may show up in the untitled Spider-Man 3. When asked about the chance of this happening, she offered this little tease:
I assume you might [see Scarlet Witch] if everyone’s in it, but I haven’t shown up to that party quite yet, I don’t think.”
Her assumption of “everyone” being in this movie isn’t very far off at this point, but she would add yet another level of insanity to this massive threequel. While it’s still a complete mystery where WandaVision will leave things, there’s a very realistic chance that Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch could be a part of the ever-expansive Spider-Man 3 story.
Olsen is already confirmed to co-star with Benedict Cumberbatch in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, which is rumored to have a direct tie-in with Spider-Man 3. Spider-Man 3 is also rumored to potentially connect to WandaVision upon the end of its run on Disney+, so it seems like there’s at least a small chance that Wanda will make it a trifecta at the start of Phase 4.
No matter who actually ends up in this movie, the hype is already building more than almost any property in Phase 4, and it’s going to be something MCU fans keep a close eye on over the coming months. Spider-Man 3 is currently filming and will release in theaters on December 17, 2021. What do you think of Elizabeth Olsen’s cryptic comments?
