After almost a year delaying its release, Marvel Studios’ Black Widow announces its new release date on July 9 with a brand new trailer for its simultaneous debut in theaters and on Disney+ with Premier Access.
BACKTRACKING FROM THE BLIP
This new trailer begins with a pensive Natasha Romanoff reflecting about who she was leading up to her days as a member of the Avengers, with footage leading up to her sacrifice in Avengers: Endgame. As we have been previously shown in past trailers, we see a montage of Natasha’s family of Black Widow agents – Yelena Belova, her spunky sister-figure and fellow agent (Florence Pugh); Melina Vostokoff as their mother-figure and Black Widow mentor (Rachel Weisz); and Alexei Shostakov, their father-figure and Russian super soldier Red Guardian (David Harbour).

The film takes place after the events of Captain America: Civil War (2016) and before the events of Avengers: Infinity War (2018). With Natasha alone, on the run, and in hiding, she is forced to confront a dangerous conspiracy with ties to her complicated past. In order to stop this impending threat, Natasha recruits her closest allies from her days before the Avengers – as a Black Widow agent. Together, they must work together in order to thwart the efforts of this terrorist group and the pursuits of the Taskmaster, a longtime Marvel villain from the comics.
