Rumors have long circulated that Kirsten Dunst would make an appearance and reprise her role as Mary Jane in Spider-Man: No Way Home. However, she has denied her involvement in the upcoming film.

But during an interview with Variety, she did mention that she would be highly interested in returning her character and making an appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

During the screening of her new film, The Power Of Dog, Kirsten Dunst was asked by Variety if she would be interested in reprising her role as Mary Jane. She responded: “I would do it. Why not? That would be fun” Kirsten Dunst that happily stated, “I would never say no to something like that,” and hilariously expressed that “I’d be old MJ at this point with little Spidey babies.”

With Dunst’s statement, it’s safe to say that the former Spider-Man actress would be highly interested in coming back to the Spider-verse. With No Way Home introducing the possibility, as seen in the recent trailer, it would make sense for Dunst’s Mary Jane to return in the near future. Dunst’s performance as Mary Jane will forever be remembered in superhero film history, especially as the upside down kiss shared between her and co-star Tobey Maguire is one of the most iconic scenes in cinema history.

Dunst’s performance as Mary Jane helped influence the other actresses that became the Wall-Crawler’s love interest in other Spider-Man films. One of those actresses are Emma Stone’s Gwen Stacy in the Amazing Spider-Man films. Then there was also Laura Harrier’s performance as Liz Allen in Spider-Man: Homecoming. Then finally Zendaya’s Marvel Cinematic version of Mary Jane called MJ (Michelle Jones). The legacy of Dunst’s Mary Jane will forever live an impact in Spidey’s cinematic lore.
