The Power Rangers Lightning Collection is already off to an exciting start for 2022 with the international releases of the Ninja Ranger figures announced last Fall. Wave 10, the most recent retail lineup of figures is getting easier to find from numerous retailers, and the the release of Wave 11 is likely around the corner.

A few months ago I shared on social media the upcoming lineup of items releasing throughout 2022 for the line from Wave 11-13’s figure lineup as well as Wave 1-3 of the Deluxe figure assortment. Some of this has now been announced by Hasbro officially while the majority will be shown off at upcoming Fan First Fridays and reveal events coming later this year.
CODENAMED POWER RANGERS LISTINGS FOUND
For nearly every item in the Power Rangers Lightning Collection, Hasbro uses a codename system to keep the identity of figures a secret, to the best of their ability, until they are ready to show it off. The other day Twitter user @Martian_Ranger discovered that Wave 13 and Wave 14’s codenamed listings were up in the Walmart internal system. Thanks to other sources the actual identities will be the Beast Morphers Yellow Ranger, Dino Fury Green Ranger, Dino Charge Blue Ranger, and an Unknown Villain from Wild Force. At this point in time it’s unknown what code will match up to what figure but the codenames for Wave 13 are “PRG FRIAR” “PRG HOST” “PRG PARSON” “PRG SUMMONER”.
These were not the only listings to be in the Walmart system, however. The codenames for Wave 14 were up there as well. Those included “PRG CLERK” “PRG MANCIPLE” “PRG SQUIRE” “PRG LAWYER”. Unlike with Power Rangers Wave 13, I have not heard from any sources on who could be in this Wave just yet, but it should be another group of figures coming out sometime between this Fall and Winter 2023.
THE CODENAME SYSTEM
It will be a while before we get the reveal of Wave 14 and it could be a while until the codenames for the figures are cracked. Ever since Wave 11 the Lightning Collection figures in the main retail waves are coded using character names from the collection of 14th century stories known as The Canterbury Tales by Geoffrey Chaucer. While the source of the codes is known this knowledge is not very helpful for figuring out who is who.
For example Dino Fury Red Ranger from Wave 11 had the codename of “PRG CHAUCER”, but it’s impossible to say why that was the case. When looking at the Wave 14 codenames the best guesses for who will be in it can come from what Hasbro has already started in the Power Rangers Lightning Collection.

WHO COULD BE IN WAVE 14?
By the time Wave 14 comes around Hasbro will have released half of the Wild Force team as well as a villain from the season. With 2022 being the 20th anniversary of that group of Power Rangers it could be possible another member will be included to further the team, whether that is Wild Force Black to finish the male members of the team, or introducing a female Wild Force mold for Yellow or White.
Two characters fans really want to see in Wave 14 are Dino Thunder Black and SPD Yellow. Dino Thunder Black will be, by that point, the final member of the team that would need a figure release and he has a good chance of getting one, especially being a form of the legendary Tommy Oliver. 2020 and 2021 saw the first ever figures of the SPD A-Squad team of evil Rangers ever, and their good side counterparts have all been released except for the Yellow Ranger, making her a must for a future Wave to fill that gap in collections.
The comics offer a crazy number of options for the Wave to explore from the Omega Rangers that have been the long time leaders of their own comic series, to the American version of the Dairanger team being introduced in the new Power Rangers Universe mini series.

Of course there could be any number of Ranger we’ll see in Wave 14. Teams like Time Force and Dino Fury have seen small numbers of representation in the line so far that could be expanding in this lineup and there’s always the chance that a brand new series will be introduced for the first time as a number of teams have yet to get a single figure released, especially every season from 2006-2014!
Whatever happens 2022 will continue to be a great year with everything Hasbro has planned for the Power Rangers Lightning Collection and regardless of who ends up in the Wave 14 lineup it’ll be sure to make some fans happy for sure.
