Exciting Details on The New Zord Ascension Project And Red Ecliptor For The Power Rangers Lightning Collection

Plenty of new Power Rangers Lightning Collection reveals were unveiled at today's Fan First Friday.

Today was another Hasbro Pulse Fan First Friday event for the Power Rangers Lightning Collection. This event was to go over the details of the new Zord Ascension Project, an evolution of the Lightning Collection that will finally bring Megazords and Zords to collectors. The first entry in this new line, the Dino Megazord from MMPR Season 1, was shown off in an early prototype phase back at Hasbro Pulse Con in October but now we have a good look at what this has to offer.

But that wasn’t all there was for this event. There was another Lightning Collection figure to be revealed first…

RED ECLIPTOR ARRIVES TO FIGHT THE RANGERS

Following his previous release in the upcoming Amazon two-pack with Astronema there will be a figure coming out in Spring 2022 for Red Ecliptor. This was a form of the character seen very briefly during an episode of Power Rangers in Space but Hasbro has done what they needed to make sure this new release is accurate such as a newly molded sword, head, and arm. No pre-orders are up for him just yet but he is expected to come out in early 2022.

INTRODUCING: THE ZORD ASCENSION PROJECT!

The rest of the stream was focused on the brand new Power Rangers Zord Ascension Project, or ZAP as it also is being called. For this expansion to the Lightning Collection, the team is working hard to give fans and collectors a new experience than just collecting, as this line will include a number of special features. One of these upcoming futures will be a new website for information on all types of Zords from Power Rangers history including special downloadable content that will be announced at a later point.

Every entry in ZAP will have a special number for it, with the Dino Megazord kicking it off as MZ-0101 which stands for Megazord from Season 1 EP 01. The whole box itself is designed to look like an entry of an archive. For the NFT Black and Gold special version of this collectible also seen at Hasbro Pulse Con, that entry is being considered MZ-0101.2 as it is a variant/repaint not seen on screen.

In addition to a number of articulation points, the ZAP Dino Megazord is able to combine into the Megazord mode, tank mode, and of course the individual Zords. While little Ranger statues will be included to pose outside the Zord, the Rangers will be seen sitting in the cockpit located in the head as well as molded in cockpits for each Zord.

The Zords will include features such as a removable tail on the T-Rex to allow for more movement and panels that can come off of the Mastodon to become heel pieces for the back of the feet, giving it more stabilization. This Megazord is 1:144 scale, which is about 10.5 to 11 inches, making it in scale with common mecha-sized building set pieces.

WHAT’S NEXT FOR ZAP?

A few months ago I heard word that Dragonzord is also in the works for this brand new line, so fans have that to look forward to in 2022, but as for what Hasbro has offficially stated anything is on the table. ZAP will be able to bring to life any Zords from the show, comics, video games, movies, upcoming projects, and even original creations their design team comes up with. The Power Rangers design team seem to be very excited for what the Zord Ascension Project will have to offer!
