It looks like 2022 is going to be a big year for Star Wars fans. Not only is the first season of The Book Of Boba Fett still debuting new episodes on Disney Plus, but at least three more series are expected to premiere on the streaming service. New series Obi-Wan Kenobi and Andor are expected to premiere in 2022 as well as the second season of the animated series, The Bad Batch. Details about when these Star Wars series will hit Disney Plus are still unknown, but it looks like a recent leak on Reddit may give fans a hint about when they can expect to see more of Clone Force 99’s adventures.
WHEN WILL SEASON 2 OF THE BAD BATCH PREMIERE ON DISNEY+?
According to Reddit user u/alcibiad (via The Direct) it looks like the second season of The Bad Batch will likely hit Disney Plus in Spring of 2022. Now technically Spring could be anytime between March 20-June 21. The first season of The Bad Batch debuted on May 4, 2021 aka Star Wars Day and with May 4, 2022 perfectly fitting into this Spring window it could mean that the animated series will be the Star Wars project that celebrates Star Wars Day two years in a row. However, there have also been rumors that Obi-Wan Kenobi could be debuting on May 4 this year.
These rumors could still prove to be true with Obi-Wan Kenobi only being 6 episodes. If Obi-Wan Kenobi does premiere on May 4 this would mean the sixth episode would likely debut Jun 8. If The Bad Batch were to premiere the following week it would still fall in the spring window. However, all of this is speculation as there have been no details about Obi-Wan Kenobi’s premiere date. Until more details are announced all of this is guesswork although it is exciting to know that at least one new Star Wars series is around the corner after The Book Of Boba Fett ends.
The Bad Batch follows Clone Force 99 who fans met in the final season of the acclaimed animated series, The Clone Wars. The Bad Batch picks up immediately at the end of the Clone Wars and covers the infamous Order 66 where the clones betray their Jedi. Most of the Bad Batch go against this order, except for Crosshair their sniper, due to their genetic modifications. The series follows the group, and female clone Omega, on mercenary-style adventures across the galaxy as they try to stay out of the grasp of the growing Empire.

The Bad Batch explores a previously untapped era of the Star Wars timeline showing the Empire insidiously take over the galaxy after the end of the Clone Wars. The first season of The Bad Batch also featured a number of exciting cameos with characters from a number of different Star Wars series like Fennec Shand, Cad Bane, Captain Rex, a young Hera, and many others making appearances.
Star Wars has a long history of exciting animated content with Dave Filoni famously helming Clone Wars and Rebels before he moved into live-action with The Mandalorian. Animated series, like The Clone Wars, fill in gaps in the Star Wars timeline and introduce engaging characters that often grow into fan favorites. Many of these animated characters have begun making the jump to live-action first in The Mandalorian and will likely continue to be brought into live-action with upcoming series like Ahsoka.
