Square Enix announces their new upcoming manga and books for 2022.

Gaming company Square Enix announced seven new upcoming titles for their manga and book collection for this year. Those seven titles announced were FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE: Traces of Two Pasts, FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE: Material Ultimania Plus, FINAL FANTASY XIV: Chronicles of Light (Reprint edition), NieR Art – Kazuma Koda Art Collection (English translated edition, YoRHa – Pearl Harbor Descent Record – A NieR:Automata Story (Manga adaptation) Vol. 1,  Tokyo Aliens Vol. 1The Girl I Like Forgot Her Glasses Vol. 1.

All seven upcoming titles look to be great new additions to Square Enix’s library of manga and novels.

FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE: Traces of Two Pasts (English translated edition) is scheduled for release on November 8, 2022, and will be available for pre-order from the SQUARE ENIX Store and other major booksellers on March 4. (For more information: https://sqex.to/cWBC7)

FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE: Material Ultimania Plus (English translated edition) is scheduled for release on December 13, 2022, and will be available for pre-order from the SQUARE ENIX Store and other major booksellers on March 4. (For more information: https://sqex.to/0GDWb)

It seems that Final Fantasy VII Remake will be headlining and receiving the most attention. It’s mainly because two of Square Enix’s seven upcoming books, Traces of Two Pasts and Material Ultimania Plus, will focus on the world Final Fantasy VII Remake. It’s also because Final Fantasy VII Remake is currently one of Square Enix’s highly popular games, especially its Playstation 5 Version. Traces of Two Pasts will focus on the origins of the game’s two main heroines, Tifa and Aerith. Material Ultimania Plus will take readers behind-the-scenes of the development of Final Fantasy VII Remake, including artwork, storyboards, exclusive scripts, and many more.

FINAL FANTASY XIV: Chronicles of Light (Reprint edition) is scheduled to be republished on October 18, 2022, and will be available for pre-order from the SQUARE ENIX Store and other major booksellers on March 4. (For more information: https://sqex.to/BXg5C)

A novel of the hit online multiplayer role-playing game Final Fantasy XIV will also be part of Square Enix’s upcoming new entries of books. Final Fantasy XIV was the fourteenth entry in the main Final Fantasy video game series. The original game’s setting was in the magical of Eorza. Players were able to create their customized Avatar and explore the land while being involved in an invasion of a hostile empire. Chronicles of Light will include a collection of twenty-five short stories that expand the rich lore of Final Fantasy XIV. The book will also include exclusive illustrations by highly acclaimed Final Fantasy artist Toshiyuki Itahana.

NieR Art – Kazuma Koda Art Collection (English translated edition) is scheduled to be published October 25, 2022, and will be available for pre-order from the SQUARE ENIX Store and other major booksellers on March 4. (For more information: https://sqex.to/ahJ0g)

Vol. 1 of YoRHa – Pearl Harbor Descent Record – A NieR:Automata Story (Manga adaptation) is scheduled to be published December 13, 2022, and will be available for pre-order from select retailers on March 15. (For more information: https://sqex.to/SQITQ)

One of Square Enix’s popular gaming franchises will also have two books based in Nier. Nier is an action role-playing game spin-off from the Drakengard video game series. In Nier, players control a protagonist whose primary mission is to cure an illness called the Black Scrawl. The game follows the fifth ending of the first Drakengard game which events have left Earth in a degraded state.

The game was highly successful, and a sequel (Nier: Automata), including a mobile game (Nier Reincarnation) was made. Kazuma Koda Art Collection will include character art from the Nier series. This exclusive art includes stunning illustrations, backgrounds, and promotional art drawn by Kazuma Koda. Pearl Harbor Descent Record is a manga series based on the events of Nier: Automata. The original game focuses on a proxy war between alien-created machines and human-crafted androids. Pearl Harbor Descent Record will focus and recount the events of the 14th Machine War.

Tokyo Aliens Vol. 1 is an upcoming science-fiction manga. Volume 1 focuses on the story of High School student Gunji Akira. Akira’s goal is to find his father’s ghost as he tries to follow in his footsteps in becoming a police officer. 

Vol. 1 of The Girl I Like Forgot Her Glasses is scheduled to be published December 13, 2022, and will be available for pre-order from select retailers on March 15. (For more information: https://sqex.to/Qk1ht)

The Girl I Like Forgot Her Glasses Vol. 1. is an upcoming comedy romance manga. The manga focuses on middle school student Komura romantically attracted to one of his classmates. However, Komura finds out that his crush has poor eyesight.

These new seven titles from Square Enix are sure to excite fans and readers once they are all released this year. Especially fans of Final Fantasy VII: Remake, Final Fantasy XIV, and Nier. Hopefully, The Girl I Like Forgot Her Glasses and Tokyo Aliens would both have an anime series adaptation in the future.
