Ant-Man & The Wasp: Quantumania takes us deep into the quantum realm. Kevin Feige recently shared some new aspects of the unique environment with Marvel fans.
Paul Rudd, Evangeline Lily, Henry Douglas, Michelle Pfeieffer, Kathryn Newton and Jonathan Majors are the lead actors for the 3rd Ant-Man movie. Directed by Peyton Reed, Ant-Man & The Wasp: Quantumania looks like a crazy, sci-fi adventure through a very special setting.
ANT-MAN & THE WASP: QUANTUMANIA: KEVIN FEIGE ON THE QUANTUM REALM
At a press conference for the upcoming film Ant-Man & The Wasp: Quantumania, Kevin Feige revealed some interesting details about the Quantum Realm. Randall Park, beloved for his WandaVision performance as Jimmy Woo, asked the questions.
Randall Park: “What exactly is the quantum realm? And where have we seen it before? And what does Quantumania reveal about the quantum realm?”
“Well, we first saw it in the first Ant-Man film. And I was working with this idea that Paul had early on, before we started filming the first Ant-Man film, to what if we explore this, you know, quantum mechanics, which we’re happy to discuss at length today, you guys want. Things act very differently at the quantum level. And Paul was talking about the amount of storytelling and imagination and fun that you could have there.
The first Ant-Man movie was mainly about meeting the characters and the origin story, of course, but at the very end of that, we got a taste of it. And that is what led to where we took it in Endgame. And it is a place that is on the subatomic level, where space and time act differently.
And that allowed us to time travel at Scott Lang’s suggestion in Endgame. And it allowed us to have this entire manic awesomeness in this film, where we go to a point where only Janet had ever seen before, and essentially it is said she does not talk about it too much. Where there is an entire universe below the surface where we meet all sorts of fun, crazy characters.”

ANT-MAN & THE WASP QUANTUMANIA: EXPLORING THE QUANTUM SIDE OF THE MCU
Quantum mechanics are incredibly complex, far beyond the scope of understanding for the average moviegoer. It’s a complicated, theoretical field that becomes a world of possibility when infused with a science fiction twist. Marvel’s Chief Creative Officer Kevin Feige remarked that “things act very differently at the quantum level”, but he didn’t specify how that would come into play. Feige did go on to express excitement at the untold possibilities of applying quantum concepts to the Ant-Man franchise.

The second half of Kevin Feige’s comments on Ant-Man & The Wasp Quantumania chart the history of the quantum realm through the MCU. The quantum realm was first introduced in Ant-Man, although it was barely explored or explained at the time. The strange world was further revealed in Ant-Man & The Wasp as Janet Van Dyne escaped from the quantum realm. Both Avengers: Endgame and Agents Of Shield focused on the time-traveling capabilities of the quantum realm.
ANT-MAN & THE WASP: QUANTUMANIA: KANG IS KEY TO THE QUANTUM REALM
While the area has been very important to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, we still know relatively little about it. According to Kevin Feige and marketing for Quantumania, there is a whole universe of characters hiding in the quantum realm. Kang The Conqueror seems to be at the center of this strange corner of the multiverse.
Considering how the death of “He Who Remains” at the end of Loki Season 1 broke the loop of the “sacred timeline”, it’s impossible to know just which variant of Kang this character is. Will he be the same version to battle Loki in Season 2 of his self-titled series? Will Ant-Man & The Wasp defeat this Kang, only for another to attack during Avengers: Kang Dynasty?
There is so much we still have to learn about the quantum realm, and the fight against Kang The Conqueror could unlock those secrets. For now, at least we know a little bit more thanks to Randall Park and Kevin Feige.
Ant-Man & The Wasp: Quantumania arrives exclusively in theaters on February 17, 2023. What do you think of Kevin Feige’s words on the quantum realm? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below or on our social media!
