The 29th SAG Awards have officially been presented. Time to take a closer look at the winners of the Film categories.
The 2023 Awards Season is slowly coming to an end. The Producers Guild of America just crowned their winner with Everything Everywhere All at Once and the BAFTA’s also surprised with their winners. Now it’s time to take a look at who was crowned by the Screen Actors Guild.

The SAG (Screen Actors Guild) Awards are the first voter overlap between precursor awards and the Oscars. That means people that vote for the SAGs also vote for the Academy Awards. But as the name probably indicates the SAG Awards are only featuring acting categories: Five to be precise.
One of the most important awards is the SAG Ensemble Award, which in the past often decided who can succeed at the Oscars. And with the ceremony only being a few weeks away, the Oscar race is heating up, especially with these SAG Awards winners. So, without further ado, let’s jump right into the winners of the SAG Awards Film categories:
SAG AWARDS FILM ENSEMBLE
Nominees: Everything Everywhere All at Once, The Banshees of Inisherin, The Fablemans, Babylon, Women Talking
Winner: The most important award of the night goes to the currents Oscar frontrunner, who also made SAG Awards history by getting 4 wins in the same evening. At this point, it is almost a lock that the multiversal family drama is coming for that Best Picture Oscar.
ACTOR
Nominees: Brendan Fraser – The Whale, Austin Butler – Elvis, Colin Farrell – The Banshees of Inisherin, Bill Nighy – Living, Adam Sandler – Hustle
Winner: The Oscar race is getting more and more interesting as Brendan Fraser wins the SAG Award after Austin Butler won the BAFTA. Fraser has now won the Critics Choice Award and the SAG Award, while Austin Butler won the Golden Globe and BAFTA. Colin Farell also won a Golden Globe, but after his surprising snub by the BAFTA, he is more or less considered to be in third place. But who will win the Oscar now? That is very hard to tell as both SAG and BAFTA are very important precursors and this year might give an answer which is a bit more important for winning the prestigious golden statue. Only time will tell.
ACTRESS
Nominees: Michelle Yeoh – Everything Everywhere All at Once, Cate Blanchett – Tár, Danielle Deadwyler – Till, Ana De Armas – Blonde, Viola Davis – The Woman King
Winner: Another acting race is heating up as Michelle Yeoh won here after Cate Blanchett won at the BAFTA last week. The Best Actress race is in a similar position as the Best Actor race as Michelle Yeoh won the Golden Globe and SAG Award, while Cate Blanchett won the Critics Choice Award and the BAFTA. But I think with how things are looking now Yeoh has the slight upper hand in this race, as it seems like everyone just wants her to win.

SUPPORTING ACTOR
Nominees: Ke Huy Quan – Everything Everywhere All at Once, Brendan Gleeson – The Banshees of Inisherin, Paul Dano – The Fablemans, Barry Keoghan – The Banshees of Inisherin, Eddie Redmayne – The Good Nurse
Winner: No surprise here as Ke Huy Quan just won another award on his way to the Oscars. This certainly is one of the more easy wins to predict as even with Barry Keoghan’s surprising BAFTA win, the Oscar is more or less guaranteed to go to the Everything Everywhere All at Once star.
SUPPORTING ACTRESS
Nominees: Angela Basset – Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Kerry Condon – The Banshees of Inisherin, Jamie Lee Curtis – Everything Everywhere All at Once, Hong Chau – The Whale, Stephanie Hsu – Everything Everywhere All at Once
Winner: The biggest surprise of the night is the win of Jamie Lee Curtis in a competitive category as she beat Angela Basset and Kerry Condon. This could certainly shake up the Best Supporting Actress race quite a bit, but I still would consider Angela Basset to be the frontrunner, even though she has more competition than Awards pundits initially expected.
STUNT ENSEMBLE
Nominees: Avatar: The Way of Water, The Batman, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Top Gun: Maverick, The Woman King
Winner: No surprise that the action film of the year took home this award. Tom Cruise might even be back in this category next year with Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part 1.
