Deck Building Rules

Adherence to specific rules is essential in Lorcana:

  • Minimum Cards: Your deck must contain at least 60 cards to ensure consistency and balance.
  • Color Restriction: You are limited to only two colors, adding a strategic layer to the deck-building process.
  • Unique Card Limit: Including a maximum of four copies of any unique card prevents over-reliance on a single strategy.

Identifying Your Deck’s Win Condition

Your deck’s success hinges on a clear win condition. Explore synergies, specific cards, keywords, or playstyles to create powerful combos and strategies in Lorcana. Understanding your win condition guides your card selection and overall strategy.

Choosing Colors and Characters

Disney Lorcana

Select characters and colors that align with your strategy in Lorcana. Consider cost, abilities, and interactions to create a powerful synergy. The right combination can lead to unexpected victories and enjoyable gameplay.

Adding Items, Quests, and Spells to Your Deck

These elements add depth to your Lorcana deck. Items, quests, and spells provide additional support, control, or aggression, depending on your strategy. Thoughtful selection of these elements can enhance your deck’s performance.

Analyzing the Ink Curve

Balance low and high-cost cards and fill gaps in your ink curve to ensure plays at every stage of a Lorcana match. A well-balanced ink curve allows for smooth gameplay and keeps you competitive throughout the game.

Adding Flexibility and Addressing Weaknesses

Include characters that challenge and remove opposing threats and consider adding cards that deal with specific problems. Flexibility and adaptability can make your deck resilient against various opponents.

Expressing Yourself Through Deck Building

Deck building is a personal and creative process. Experiment with different variations and use deck building to express yourself. Your deck can be a reflection of your personality and playstyle.

Example Deck Theme: I Grew Up in the ’90s

Disney Lorcana

So being a person who grew up in the 90s and seeing The Lion King and Lilo & Stitch in theaters, Simba and Stitch are among my favorite characters. And as you can see, I have a lot of both of those characters, so I made a deck around them. I honestly don’t know if it’s very good, but from the two times I played I build the deck with those conditions in mine. I’ll do some more playtesting this week to see if it’s actually any good. But it’s just an example of the dream teams you can make with Disney Lorcana.

While it is currently a bit difficult and more expensive to get into the game, the mass release is only 10 days away. So hopefully any distribution and stock issues will be gone. But until then, we keep you up to date with all we know about the game, and its availability, and any updates we get from Ravensburger.

Disney Lorcana is available now at your local TCG, make sure to call first and see how much their markup is. On average things are about three times retail MSRP. And while the game is fun, considering how hard it is to get the game, maybe hold off until more people are able to play.

Being 6’ 4” and Asian, he never really fit in, so he got comfortable standing out. Not only is it easy to find him in crowds, he dabbles in the culinary arts, does a little stand up and improv, and can honestly say Spider-Man is the Jesus-like influence of his life. Kevin Fenix loves dogs, movies, television, comics, comedy, and to shoot people… with video.
