Toy leaks have revealed that Ocean Master, Mera, and Black Manta will feature in Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom.

The leaks give us our first and second looks at the costuming and key features of three major players in the next Aquaman film, as well as Aquaman himself.

We recently reported on the leaked Black Manta Hammerhead Sub which was acquired after a lightning-fast Amazon order. Now, Reddit user Proof-Watercress-931 has posted photos of Orm, Black Manta, Mera, and Aquaman action figures in r/DCEULeaks.

Aquaman and Mera

In the 2018 DCEU movie Aquaman and other DCEU properties, Jason Momoa shines as a charismatic and powerful hero in his portrayal of Arthur Curry. With his imposing physical presence, long hair, and rugged demeanor, Momoa brings a unique and contemporary edge to the character.

Arthur Curry is a complex figure in this cinematic universe, torn between his dual heritage as a half-human and half-Atlantean. In Aquaman, he embarks on an epic journey to claim his birthright as the rightful ruler of Atlantis while navigating political intrigue and threats from his ambitious half-brother, Orm.

Momoa’s Aquaman is a symbol of strength and resilience, exemplifying the notion that true heroism lies in embracing one’s identity and standing up for the unity of both the underwater and surface worlds. His presence in the DCEU adds depth and diversity to the league of iconic superheroes, making him a beloved and essential member of this cinematic universe.

Amber Heard portrays Mera, a formidable character and integral part of the Aquaman storyline. Mera is the princess of the underwater kingdom of Xebel and possesses hydrokinetic abilities, allowing her to control and shape water in various forms.

Amber Heard brings a strong and independent presence to the role, portraying Mera as a warrior and diplomat who aids Arthur Curry in his quest to unite the underwater kingdoms and protect both Atlantis and the surface world. Mera is not only a skilled combatant but also a character with a depth of intelligence and determination, making her an essential ally to Aquaman.

Her dynamic chemistry with Jason Momoa’s Arthur Curry adds a layer of emotional depth to the DCEU, showcasing a powerful partnership that helps anchor the franchise’s aquatic adventures.

Orm and Black Manta

Patrick Wilson portrays Orm Marius, also known as Ocean Master. Orm is a complex and formidable antagonist, serving as Arthur Curry’s half-brother and the primary antagonist of the film.

With a desire to unite the underwater kingdoms and declare war on the surface world, Orm is driven by a sense of duty and a belief that he is the rightful ruler of Atlantis. Patrick Wilson’s performance as Orm is both charismatic and menacing, capturing the character’s depth and internal conflict.

His character’s motivations and actions challenge Aquaman’s claim to the throne and force him to confront the responsibilities of his heritage. Orm’s presence adds a layer of familial drama and political intrigue to the DCEU, making him a memorable and compelling adversary for Aquaman and the entire underwater realm.

Black Manta is portrayed by Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, and he is a standout antagonist. Black Manta, whose real name is David Kane, is a technologically advanced pirate and mercenary with a personal vendetta against Aquaman.

His character is driven by a thirst for revenge after a confrontation with Arthur Curry leads to a tragic incident involving his father. With his advanced Atlantean technology and a sleek, imposing suit equipped with deadly energy beams, Black Manta becomes a formidable adversary, creating intense and visually stunning action sequences. Yahya Abdul-Mateen II’s portrayal captures Black Manta’s relentless determination and obsession with bringing down Aquaman. His presence in the DCEU adds a layer of personal vendetta and a classic hero-villain dynamic, making Black Manta a memorable and formidable foe in the underwater world.

Toy Quality

Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom

The figures themselves have received a mixed reception on Reddit. Orm has come under specific criticism for looking ‘unfinished’ and user Inkimitts suggests Mera ‘looks like she stepped on a bee.’ Masterdebator88 sums up the general feeling quite nicely by saying ‘I can’t tell if these are bootleg toys or Happy Meal toys… They look terrible!’

However, not all the reviews are negative. Armchaircritic1 describes Black Manta’s suit as ‘perfect’ while Kumar100kpawan says Momoa’s Aquaman is ‘looking majestic as always.’

What do you think? Are you happy with the quality of these toys, or do you agree with the critics? Will you be looking out for them, or hoping that something better comes along closer to the movie’s release?
