Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman is the latest DCEU superhero trying to be worked into Andy Muschietti’s The Flash!
The road to The Flash has been an incredibly long and tumultuous one. Originally announced in 2014, and slated for a 2018 release at the time, the silver screen adventures of Barry Allen have suffered delay after delay. The negative reception of Joss Whedon’s Justice League no doubt played a part in this, though the routine changes in the creative team did not help speed along development of the film.
Thankfully, 2020 has finally brought some level of clarity and insight regarding The Flash. First, Michael Keaton was announced to be reprising his role as Bruce Wayne/Batman. Following that Ben Affleck’s Batman officially joined the impressive cast of characters. While numerous reports and a presentation at DC Fandome helped illustrate the story that will be a loosely inspired by the Flashpoint comic run.
Gal Gadot Next To Join The Flash?
Currently, another Justice League legend is being roped into a brand new adventure in the DCEU. Gal Gadot is being pursued to join the cast of The Flash, reprising her role as Diana Prince. Wonder Woman is looked to be a small supporting role, although we cannot offer any additional insight into how exactly she will factor into the story at this time. Regardless, we here at The Illuminerdi are thrilled about this development.
Concerns about Ezra Miller seldom standing in the spotlight in his first “solo” movie aside, Gal Gadot is easily one of the most popular actors in the DC Extended Universe, and her performances in Wonder Woman and Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice have consistently left fans craving more of her unique brand of Amazonian justice. The daughter of Zeus is set to appear in Wonder Woman 84 this Christmas, and then again come 2021 in Zack Snyder’s Justice League, before ultimately reuniting with Barry Allen in The Flash. Additionally, a third Wonder Woman film is in development, as well as a spinoff centered on the Amazons.
Wonder Woman did play an integral role in the original DC Comics’ Flashpoint storyline, as well as the animated movie The Flashpoint Paradox. She led the Amazons in a brutal war against Arthur Curry and his Atlantean forces, an arc which would be thrilling to watch play out in the DCEU. Tragically, this adaptation will reportedly not feature the Amazon/Atlantis war. Another noteworthy element of the original story that has been abandoned is the storyline of Thomas Wayne, the twisted Batman of the Flashpoint universe.

If the studio and Gal Gadot come to an agreement, the only remaining member of DC’s Trinity absent from the cast would be Henry Cavill’s Superman. While we have no reason to believe that Henry Cavill has joined The Flash at this time, Deadline’s report that the Man of Steel would appear in a supporting role in an upcoming DCEU film(s) feels like it may be important right about now.
The Flash has a lot of work to do. This movie has to reintroduce Micheal Keaton’s Batman to the public while also setting him up as a known presence throughout the future of the DCEU, explore the concept of the multiverse, deliver on a strong Barry Allen story, and provide interesting roles for three additional members of The Justice League in Batman, Wonder Woman, and possibly Cyborg. That is a lot of ambition in one movie, hopefully Muschietti can handle this massive, sprawling tale.
