New rumors have been circulating that a popular X-Men character may be making an appearance in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
Marvel Studios is living the high life at the moment thanks to a week full of absolute madness. A new episode of What If…? found a way to kill off nearly all the original Avengers, the second trailer for Eternals gave fans more of an insight into the story, and the internet officially broke thanks to the long-awaited arrival of Spider-Man: No Way Home‘s first full trailer.
No Way Home is looking to take the MCU’s first real big screen dive into the multiverse after teases for the expansion were laid out in the Season 1 finale of Loki. With the arrival of villains like Willem Dafoe’s Green Goblin and Alfred Molina’s Doctor Octopus to fight the MCU’s young web-slinger, the Marvel world as we know it is about to change forever.
Benedict Cumberbatch’s time as Doctor Strange in No Way Home will also set up his next solo adventure in 2022’s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, which will take alternate dimensions and realities to new levels of insanity. Pair him up with the Scarlet Witch and the dimension-jumping America Chavez, and you have a recipe for one of the wildest rides ever put to screen within the MCU.

Rumors have also recently pointed to Elizabeth Olsen’s powerful witch being set to face off against a character from the X-Men universe, although its still unclear whether it will be a new take on the unknown character or a reprisal from the Fox Studios X-Men movies. Now, a new report is teasing which character this may be.
Are The X-Men Joining The Cast of Doctor Strange 2?
Rumors are pointing to Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness introducing the X-Men protagonist Professor X. Hints are pointing to this being the Patrick Stewart version of the character, who will also help introduce an MCU Illuminati team consisting of Captain Carter, Balder the Brave, Monica Rambeau, and Baron Mordo.
Last year, we at The Illuminerdi had the fun opportunity to report on Marvel developing some kind of project based on the Illuminati team. Seeing that group debut alongside Doctor Strange in this movie, especially with somebody like Patrick Stewarts’ Professor X, would bring a new level of craziness as Fox Studios’ heroes potentially find their way into the MCU.

With the rumor of Captain Carter appearing in this movie as well, it will be interesting to find out exactly how large a role the Illuminati and Professor X will play in this hyped-up sequel. No matter what happens, this movie appears to be bringing the heat with a host of players from Marvel’s past and present.
