An executive producer for Marvel’s Moon Knight confirmed that the currently streaming Disney+ series takes place in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and that there are plans to expand the character’s role in the MCU. But where exactly?
Executive producer Grant Curtis told Inverse that Moon Knight is a show within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, even though it takes place in England and Egypt, which is far away from the comic characters base of operations in New York City. “Moon Knight is very much in the MCU,” Grant Curtis told Inverse. “The observant viewer is going to hear and see those Easter eggs we drop that do explain that and confirm that.”

Phase 4 has already introduced audiences to new starring heroes including Shang-Chi and the Eternals on the big screen, but Disney+ just brought viewers another: Moon Knight. Reactions to the psychological thriller are beyond ecstatic, but intriguingly, this latest one may be the most disconnected MCU entry to release since 2008’s Iron Man. The hero has often teamed up with the Avengers in the Marvel comics however, so it wouldn’t be surprising to see him show up in future crossover films.
When does Moon Knight Take Place in the MCU?
Director Mohamed Diab said he hopes that Marc Spector and Steven Grant meet the Avengers. “I could see Marc and Steven driving the characters of the MCU crazy,” Diab said, per ComicBook.com. “Marc’s speaking to someone with complete seriousness, and suddenly he turns into Steven, or Moon Knight turns into Mr. Knight. I think it would be amazing.”
Disney+ updated the Marvel Cinematic Universe Timeline Order following the release of the series to place the psychological order after Hawkeye.
That means the order of events is as follows:

The chronological placement of Moon Knight makes it the most recent in the timeline, taking place after Eternals, Hawkeye, and therefore, Spider-Man: No Way Home. With Hawkeye taking place about a year after Endgame, this puts Moon Knight sometime after December 2024, meaning the series could be the first MCU project set in the far distant 2025.

Moon Knight being devoid of connections to the rest of the superhero world may make a bit more sense now, given that the news of Endgame’s universal impact will have quietened down. This also means that Moon Knight exists in a time where the multiverse is officially in full swing, due to the show coming after Loki and Spider-Man: No Way Home. With multiple versions of Moon Knight existing within Steven Grant’s (or Marc Spector’s, whichever you prefer) own body, who knows how many more Moon Knights are floating around in alternate worlds.

Follows Steven Grant, a mild-mannered gift-shop employee, who becomes plagued with blackouts and memories of another life. Steven discovers he has dissociative identity disorder and shares a body with mercenary Marc Spector.
