There are plenty of October movies that are coming to theatres, streaming platforms, and video on demand this month that we should not miss. This month offers loads of movies belonging to a wide plethora of genres. That includes action flicks, dramas, comedies, horror, adventure, sci-fi, and thrillers. Among which most of the movies are a lineup of spooky October offerings.
Netflix is known for releasing a lot of content each month and October is looking as heavy as it normally does the majority of which are horror-themed films. Some of them include Netflix original movies, such as: Hubie Halloween a horror-comedy; A Babysitter’s Guide to Monster Hunting a comedy-adventure; The Trial Of The Chicago 7 a drama; Rebecca a romantic thriller; Over The Moon an animated fantasy adventure; His House a thriller, and also a few other new movies.
Apple TV+ original, On the Rocks a comedy-drama; Disney+ original drama, Clouds; Amazon’s The Lie a horror-thriller, Nocturne a horror-thriller, and Borat 2 a comedy; Hulu’s horror drama Books of Blood; HBO Max drama Charm City Kings are also coming this month.
Many films have been released digitally for the audience to view on-demand in the last six months. There are a ton of VOD releases in September, those are Eternal Beauty; Spontaneous; Happy Halloween, Scooby-Doo!; The Doorman; The Wolf of Snow Hollow; Seized; Kajillionaire; Love and Monsters; The Secrets We Keep; The Craft: Legacy all soon becoming available for VOD. Most of the VOD releases are also opening in select theatres before, or simultaneously, launching on digital platforms.
In the last two months, many theatres across various countries are reopened and new movies are getting ready to premiere wherever theatres are available instead of waiting for other theatres to come back in full form. Some movies are having a release in select theatres before they head to streaming but some movies are having a wide release possible. Those are The War with Grandpa a comedy, Honest Thief an action flick, Come Play a horror-thriller film.

Eternal Beauty is Samuel Goldwyn Films’ dark comedy-drama film, written and directed by actor Craig Roberts (The Fundamentals of Caring), featuring Sally Hawkins (The Shape of Water, Paddington) and David Thewlis (Harry Potter), Billie Piper (Doctor Who), Penelope Wilton (Shaun of the Dead), Alice Lowe (Prevenge), Morfydd Clark (His Dark Materials), Banita Sandhu (Pandora), Natalie O’Neill, Elysia Welch (The Return of the Yuletide Kid), and Robert Aramayo (Game of Thrones).
This is a story of a schizophrenic woman who develops a budding romance with a failed musician who has bipolar disorder. When Jane (Hawkins) is dumped at the altar and rejected by life, she has a breakdown and spirals into a chaotic, schizophrenic world where love (both real and imagined), family relationships, and normality collide with both touching and humorous consequences.
Craig Roberts is an actor turned director who is best known for his breakout role in the movie Submarine. This is his second feature after his 2015 directorial debut ‘Just Jim‘, which he also wrote and starred in. Eternal Beauty had its world premiere at the BFI London Film Festival on 8 October 2019. It holds a 78% rating on Rotten Tomatoes based on 18 reviews. Now this R-rated movie will be released through VOD platforms and this is a must-watch.

Spontaneous
Spontaneous is a sci-fi horror/ comedy film, written and directed by writer Brian Duffield (The Babysitter), in his directorial debut, based upon the novel of the same name by Aaron Starmer. It stars Katherine Langford (Knives Out, 13 Reasons Why), Charlie Plummer (Looking for Alaska), Hayley Law (Riverdale), Piper Perabo (Angel Has Fallen), Rob Huebel (I Love You, Man), Chelah Horsdal (The Man in the High Castle), Kaitlyn Bernard (1922), and Yvonne Orji (Insecure).
Official synopsis: When students in their high school inexplicably start to explode, seniors Mara (Langford) and Dylan (Plummer) struggle to survive in a world where each moment may be their last. As unexpected romance blossoms between them, they soon discover that when tomorrow is no longer promised, they can finally start living for today.
Spontaneous is scheduled to be released in a limited release on October 2 followed by a video on demand release by Paramount Pictures. This R-rated movie is getting rave reviews for its story, direction, and performances.

Happy Halloween, Scooby-Doo!
Happy Halloween, Scooby-Doo! is WB Animation’s new Scooby-Doo movie written, produced, and directed by Maxwell Atoms (The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy). Scooby-Doo and the gang take part in their first Halloween movie mystery which is headed to home video. It features the franchise familiar voice talents of Frank Welker as Scooby-Doo/Fred Jones, Grey Griffin as Daphne Blake, Matthew Lillard as Shaggy Rogers, and Kate Micucci as Velma Dinkley. The film also stars Cassandra Peterson as Elvira, Mistress of the Dark, and Bill Nye as himself.

The Lie
The Lie is Blumhouse production’s 2018 psychological horror-thriller film written and directed by Veena Sud (The Stranger). It is a remake of the 2015 German film We Monsters. It stars Joey King (The Act, The Kissing Booth), Mireille Enos (Hanna), Peter Sarsgaard (Shattered Glass), Dani Kind (Workin’ Moms), and Cas Anvar (The Expanse). Jason Blum serves as a producer under his Blumhouse Productions banner.
