It seems like Thor: Love and Thunder is following the example of another MCU movie: Captain America: Civil War as it promises to feel like an Avengers movie.
Recently it was confirmed that Star-Lord himself Chris Pratt, will join the cast of the fourth Thor movie, which he basically confirmed after responding to Chris Hemsworth’s recent Instagram post, in which he works out for their upcoming movie.
Thor: Love and Thunder on an Avengers’ Scale
Now insiders report that the movie will have an Avengers event feel to it. This could indicate that even more characters from the MCU could join the already stacked cast.
Yesterday THR reported some news about Black Panther 2, but the article also stated this:
“In January, Taika Waititi’s sequel Thor: Love and Thunder is starting its Australian shoot with a sprawling cast assembling for what one insider is likening to ‘an Avengers 5 feel,’ thanks to its ensemble.”
The key word “Avengers 5 feel” indicates that there could be more people from all over the MCU join. This would be a similar situation as Captain America: Civil War, where almost everyone in the MCU was there to fight on the side of either Captain America or Iron Man. While the movie still clearly was a Captain America-led movie, it had that Avengers feeling to it, because of the ensemble cast and the big impact on the Marvel cinematic universe.

At this point the cast includes: Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Natalie Portman as Jane Foster/Thor, Christian Bale as the unknown villian, Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie, Taika Waititi as Korg (Miek is also confirmed to return) and Chris Pratt as Star Lord. At this point the most likely newcomers to the cast would be the rest of the Guardians of the Galaxy, a while ago Vin Diesel did tease that Groot might show up, so we already would have two of them. If Bradley Cooper as Rocket joins, we would have the reunion of the Infinity War team (Thor, Rocket and Groot).
It will be exciting to see if more newcomers join the cast of Thor: Love and Thunder before filming starts in January 2021. The movie was written and will be directed by Taika Waititi and is set to hit theatres on February 11th 2022. What do you guys think? Who do you think could join the movie?
