Daredevil himself, Charlie Cox has one interesting idea for his character to appear in an upcoming MCU film.
It’s been a good month for Marvel Studios. Black Panther: Wakanda Forever just became the first film this year to take the #1 Spot at the Box Office for the 5th week in a row. By now it should be the second-biggest film at the Domestic Box Office in 2022. The emotional celebration of Chadwick Boseman’s legacy, as well as the introduction of Namor to the MCU, will certainly be the talk of the town for a little more, Marvel Studios also delivered on Disney+.
The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special became an instant fan favorite and future Christmas classic. And we haven’t even mentioned the emotional first trailer for the highly anticipated conclusion to James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy. But as the year comes to a close, Marvel is already getting ready to start its busy next year as multiple projects are gearing up its production. We already revealed quite a bit of exclusive information about the mysterious Agatha: Coven of Chaos series, like the casting of Aubrey Plaza and the possible reveal of Joe Locke’s character.
But while the WandaVision spin-off will start pre-shoots this year another few projects are slated to start production in early 2023. Those include the fourth Captain America film titled New World Order starring Anthony Mackie as the titular hero in March, the highly anticipated Deadpool 3 in April of 2023, and the even more anticipated Daredevil series, which is currently casting.
Since its announcement at San Diego Comic-Con back in the summer, fans can’t stop buzzing about the return of Hells Kitchen’s Devil. The 18-episode series has instantly become one of the most anticipated projects in the MCU’s Phase 5. While Kevin Feige brought Daredevil and Kingpin themselves, Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio on stage back at D23, the project is currently casting new additions for the MCU. Since then, The Many Saints of Newark star Michael Gandolfini has joined the series in an undisclosed role, as well as Margarita Levieva and Sandrine Holt.
While the series is getting close and closer to starting shooting, Daredevil himself, Charlie Cox has a fun idea, where his character could show up in the MCU.
WILL DAREDEVIL MEET …?
During a Q&A panel at a German Comic Con, Cox was asked by a fan where he’d like Matt Murdock to appear in the MCU. Charlie Cox responded:
“I think because of the tone of our show, I think that there’s a place for Daredevil to show up in Deadpool. It would be really cool,” Cox said. He then joked, “Great, now that’s a news story.”
Charlie Cox is A Deadpool fan
The interesting part of that quote is that the tone of Daredevil: Born Again seemingly will be similar to Deadpool 3, which has been often confirmed to remain true to the franchise’s R-rating. Cox’s statement could indicate that Born Again will have the same age restriction as the beloved Netflix series: TV-MA.
Now I wouldn’t expect Cox to show up in Deadpool 3, as the threequel is shaping up to become more of a multiversal adventure, rather than a gritty crime story, but I think that the dynamic between these two characters could be very fun. Maybe that is something fans will get to enjoy in one of the upcoming Avengers films.
Daredevil: Born Again is set to hit Disney+ in the Spring of 2024. Deadpool 3 is set to hit theatres on November 8, 2024.
