First Look At The Legend Of Vox Machina Animated Series In New BTS Featurette From Critical Role

Critical Role has released a new video taking Critters behind the scenes of the making of The Legend Of Vox Machina to how the world is being created for animation.

Critical Role has released another video in the series of behind-the-scenes looks into the upcoming animated series, The Legend of Vox Machina.

While the initial video announced the writing team, this one explores the creation of the world in animation talking to the cast, Executive Producer Brandon Auman, Art Director Arthur Loftis, and Supervising Director Sung Jin Ahn. The cast of The Legend of Vox Machina is clearly ecstatic about how the team at Titmouse Inc. is working to bring the world they created to life in a truly spectacular way.

Matt Mercer says, “I have never felt more confident in letting other people handle a vision of mine, than already seeing what they’re doing with the whole team.”

Mercer, as the Dungeon Master, is the one who initially envisioned and described the world to the rest of the cast during their first campaign. Mercer is famous for making the worlds he creates feel real and describing them in such a way that they come to life. Hearing how he and the other cast members talk about the Titmouse team’s work adds a measure of not only confidence, but anticipation. The art that is shown during the video shows that their excitement is not misplaced.

Arthur Loftis, art director, shares, “I’m proud to count myself as one of the Critters. I was one of the 90,000 to back this project in the first place. I had no idea I was going to be on it.”

Arthus Loftis being a Critter himself, has been a huge asset according to The Legend of Vox Machina cast members. Sam Reigel talks about how Loftis has added details to the world that they wouldn’t have even thought of. Many of the designs for the locations from the show are shared in the video and the designs are so well thought out and detailed that when the animated series is released Critters will be transported into the world that Mercer and the rest of the cast from Critical Role created.

TITMOUSE INC. BRINGING THE WORLD OF CRITICAL ROLE TO LIFE FOR THE LEGEND OF VOX MACHINA

Some of the location that will be explored during the first season of The Legends of Vox Machina were revealed. These cities from Critical Role’s first campaign, include Emon which will be a major city and central hub of sorts for this fantasy world. Critters will get to see fan favorite store Gilmore’s Glorious Goods brought to life, which is a favorite of supervising director Sung Jin Ahn.

The other major location during the first season is White Stone which has a completely different design. White Stone has influences pulled from the history of the continent which was that people sailed there. The houses are definitely designed to have a feel of ships bows with the roof looking like sloping hulls of ships. Laura Bailey and Travis Willingham talk about being blown away by the design of the famous Sun Tree in the center of White Stone.

Another location that will be a part of season one of The Legends of Vox Machina was not a part of the Critical Role live stream. This location will be new for Critters to experience it is a coastal fishing city called the Shale Steps. Knowing that Critters get to experience new stories that weren’t part of the original Critical Role live stream is a fun aspect of the first season that adds another layer to the story of The Legend of Vox Machina.

The Legends of Vox Machina is in good hands with the animation team at Titmouse Inc. and the cast of Critical Role has an infectious joy and excitement about the world they created being moved into the medium of animation.

The Legend of Vox Machina will feature the cast of Critical Role Travis Willingham, Laura Bailey, Marisha Ray, Taliesin Jaffe, Liam O’Brien, Sam Riegel, Ashely Johnson, and Matt Mercer reprising their characters from the first campaign. The series will include new stories for Critter as well as storylines from the original live stream. The Legend of Vox Machina does not have a release date yet, but it will stream on Amazon Prime when it does come out.

According to the Kickstarter update for The Legend of Vox Machina, Critical Role is hoping to provide regular updates every other month. With more behind the scenes content and exciting news to come, the wait for the animated series might be a while longer, but Critters will get to have a piece of the experience that has come from making the series.
