Hasbro’s Power Rangers Power Week continues with Day 2! This week new products for the popular Lightning Collection are being announced to go up for pre-order at 1 pm ET and today they had a big announcement: Street Fighter!
Lightning Collection Adds Street Fighter Legend Ryu To The Line

Based on the suit design from the 2018 collaboration with the mobile game Power Rangers Legacy Wars this new Crimson Hawk Morphed Ryu Ranger figure is packed with a ton of detail to bring this suit to life. Details include the painted Crimson Hawk Power Coin on his Morpher, his Green Ranger Dragon Shield-like armor, and bandana poking out of the helmet. While Ryu Ranger originates from the mobile game this suit was also brought over to the console game Power Rangers: Battle for the Grid alongside Chun-Li Ranger as a DLC pack.

Of course, Ryu is not without his signature Hadouken attack, replicated here by Hasbro with a number of special effect pieces that can even be clipped onto an included display stand. Also included are swappable hands and a special fire hawk piece to really complete his look.
More Street Fighter characters, like Chun-Li Ranger, were present in these Power Rangers video games so one has to wonder if more figures in this crossover line are on the way. This is a very similar expansion to Hasbro’s Lightning Collection as they did in August 2021 when they announced a number of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle collaboration figures.

PLASTIC FREE BOX
Ryu Ranger includes one of the first Lightning Collection figures to be packaged in plastic free boxes. This new look has already been seen in a few other items in the line so far this year but will take full effect to everything in the line by the end of 2022.

This new look features a move away from the standard Tom Whalen box illustrations in favor of artwork for Ryu on the front and side and renders of the figures and accessories all around. The Ryu Ranger figure does not include a Ryu unhelmeted head sculpt but does feature the higher deluxe type pricing of retailing for $33.99 and is available for pre-order on fan channel retailers such as Entertainment Earth for a spring 2023 release. Hasbro also released a video on their YouTube showcasing this new figure and revealing that more details on it will be shown off in a closer look during this Friday’s Hasbro Pulse Power Rangers Fanstream!

The Lightning Collection Ryu Ranger figure looks astonishing, I must say, I admire the craftsmanship and hope to see more superb work like that in the future. If we keep our fingers crossed maybe we’ll get a Chun-Li Blue Phoenix Ranger figure, one can only dream.
