We’ll also of course be breaking down and giving our in depth review of the movie.
THE ILLUMINERDI’S WE’RE ALWAYS WATCHING: DOCTOR STRANGE IN THE MULTIVERSE OF MADNESS
This week Joe Deckelmeier, leader of The Illuminerdi, Kevin Fenix, one of our editors, and Caitlin Tyrrell, one of our journalists and features manager, are diving into the sheer insanity of Marvel’s newest big screen adventure, Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness. This film introduces some truly exciting things into the MCU in this new multiverse traversing extravaganza!
In this episode of We’re Always Watching we will be discussing The Illuminati, how Joe began the campaign for John Krasinski’s casting as Mr. Fantastic, Raimi successfully introducing horror into the MCU, how the Disney Plus series tie into Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness, and much more. Our Illuminerdi Watchers have some interesting thoughts about Wanda and how she was used in the new film. We also share our excitement about what could be next for one of our new favorite characters, America Chavez.
The Illuminerdi had a number of exclusives for Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness. Now, with the film bringing in a new writer, Michael Waldron, and director, Sam Raimi, in February 2020 it isn’t a surprise that there were some changes that impacted some of our earlier scoops. So, let’s see how we did:
CONFIRMED:
All three of these characters do appear in Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness with the film introducing both America Chavez and Clea.
AMERICA CHAVEZ MAY KICK OPEN THE MULTIVERSE OF MADNESS IN DOCTOR STRANGE 2: EXCLUSIVE
CLEA WILL BRING EVEN MORE MAGIC TO THE MCU IN DOCTOR STRANGE 2: EXCLUSIVE

The Illuminati were an important part of the new MCU film, but it wasn’t the usual team make up. It is also possible that there is still a separate project in development involving The Illuminati.
HOW SHUMA GORATH AND AMERICA CHAVEZ FIT INTO DOCTOR STRANGE IN THE MULTIVERSE OF MADNESS: EXCLUSIVE
Shuma-Gorath did not technically appear in Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness, but the monster that Strange and Wong fought at the beginning of the film, and featured in the trailers, has an uncanny resemblance to the long time enemy of the famed sorcerer.

Considering this information was brought to us before the change in screenwriter and director, it isn’t a huge surprise that this changed. Especially since both Waldron and Raimi have revealed that the script went through extensive rewrites sometimes with pages being finished minutes before filming began.
