After the official release of the trailer for Thor: Love and Thunder, the internet immediately began dissecting each frame, but many missed a detail on the official poster which confirmed the return of the Asgardian Warrior, Lady Sif.

Lady Sif To Appear in Thor: Love and Thunder
The poster’s list of cast and crew includes Jamie Alexander, the actor who portrays Lady Sif in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. While the actress has teased her return in the fourth Thor film, this is the first official promotion confirming her involvement.
While it’s exciting to see Jamie Alexander return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, this won’t be her first time since 2013. Alexander reprised her role as Lady Sif in Loki which had the titular character stuck in a loop of being continuously struck by the Asgardian Warrior. Of course, this was a flashback, and Thor: Love and Thunder will feature the character’s proper return to the MCU.
What Has Lady Sif Missed?
Lady Sif has been absent from the Thor films since 2013’s Thor: The Dark World, and we’ll say she has missed a whole lot. We don’t know much about what Sif went through after the events of that film, all that’s known is that she was banished by Loki who was disguised as Odin at the time. Loki probably did this because Sif would have found out that it was not truly Odin. Her character was said to have been a victim of The Snap and resurrected five years later with the rest of half the universe.

The whereabouts of Lady Sif now are very unclear, and while we have a few theories, they all end in Lady Sif journeying to Asgard or Thor. Now begs the question, what’s next for Lady Sif in Thor: Love and Thunder?
What’s Next For Lady Sif?
She will likely be asking a lot of questions, as a lot has changed since her time in Asgard. For one, there is no more Asgard, at least the one she’s familiar with. Back in 2013, Asgard was still a prospering realm with most characters still living. In the time since she’s been gone, Odin died, Hela killed The Warriors Three, Surtur destroyed Asgard, Thanos killed Loki and half their people (along with half the universe), and Asgard was rebuilt and refounded on Earth.

That’s a lot to process, and we’re sure she’ll need some time to adjust.
Does She Have Anyone Left?
Like Thor, she’s probably lost essentially everyone close to her. Characters she was shown to have a relationship with, including The Warriors Three and Loki are now all gone. The only person she is known to have left at this point is Thor. Perhaps she has family members that managed to survive the events of both Thor: Ragnarok and Avengers: Infinity War. The film will likely answer this question.
Valkyrie’s Queen?
The size of Alexander’s role in this film is unknown, but it could be a smaller role as she is not a top billed actor in this film. Many have theorized she could become the Queen of Asgard. Taika Waititi confirmed that this film would feature King Valkyrie finding her queen, could that turn out to be Lady Sif? Time will tell.

The hope is that we learn what happened to Lady Sif after being banished by Loki disguised as Odin. Where did she go? What has she been up to? How did she know to come to Earth to find Asgard? There’s a lot of questions we’re excited for Taika Waititi to answer in Thor: Love and Thunder.
