The Death of Kid Flash
On March 16th, 2013, the season finale of Young Justice: Invasion aired which featured Wally West, A.K.A. Kid Flash, making the ultimate sacrifice in the episode titled “Endgame”. His character was ripped from existence while assisting The Flash and Impulse in stopping The Reach from destroying Earth. The circumstances as to what exactly happened to Wally were unclear, all that was known is that Kid Flash siphoned off all the energy from the weapon causing him to disappear.

Since the apparent death of Wally West, his character has yet to have returned, aside from various visions and flashbacks. With almost ten years having passed since the finale of Season Two, it began to look as though the character might just be gone for good. That is until the Season Four episode titled “Emergency Dive” premiered.
The Phantom Zone
As seen in the fourth season of Young Justice, we were introduced to the Phantom Zone. Like the comics, the Phantom Zone is a prison housed in a separate dimension. This prison is reserved for the worst of the worst, and by that, we mean Zod. Kryptonians would imprison him using the Phantom Zone Projector. Young Justice: Phantoms featured Superboy making the ultimate sacrifice, and being brought to the Phantom Zone as a last bid escape by Phantom Girl. In the Zone, beings appear in various shades of blue with inverted eyes.

As explained by Phantom Girl, the Phantom Zone is the space between their dimension and her home dimension of Bgtzl. Meaning it isn’t just a prison, but an organic space in reality that can be accessed by more than just a Phantom Zone Projector.
Is Wally Alive In The Phantom Zone?
While Superboy was in the Phantom Zone, he suffered from Zone-Sickness causing him to see illusions of those closest to him. These illusions did not have their color palettes inverted, likely trying to convey that these were all in Connor’s mind. After seeing both Miss Martian and Superman, he would see Wally West, except Wally would have the same color scheme as all other beings in the Phantom Zone. Could this mean Kid Flash is alive and in the Phantom Zone?

Perhaps when Wally was being struck by the energy that caused him to seemingly die, he actually just phased through their dimension into the Phantom Zone! With Wally West’s insane speed levels, him being hit with that kind of cosmic energy could have been enough to do the trick. It would explain why he appeared the same as Superboy in the Zone.
We know it’s a tad far-fetched, as West could have just been animated in that style to represent his character having passed on. His character also appeared to be in decent spirits, although that could just be Wally making the best of a bad situation, as well as possibly suffering from Zone Sickness himself. While it is a long shot, weirder things have happened in the DC universe.
Could Wally West Be Recruited by Vandal Savage or Darkseid?

After almost ten years without Wally West in Young Justice, the writers could have finally set up his potential return. We saw Klarion retrieving all Kryptonians from the Phantom Zone for Vandal Savage’s army, and Granny Goodness has recruited Mary Marvel and Supergirl to act as her new Furies. Klarion could have taken Wally West as well, and maybe even been recruited by Darkseid. If Wally’s mind is as fragile as Superboy’s was after being in the Zone, he could easily be manipulated by the Ruler of Apokolips.
